Not sure if it's right place but here we go:

I think ED should update steam page to mention free TF51D

Excellent Suggestion.

hi

the modelviewer.exe from my DCS steam installation will never launch and would crash on startup

does anyone knows why? thanks

You have to execute it from within a batch file, not by just double-clicking it.

can you be more precise? how/ where i get that "batch" file? 10x

Create a file called Modelviewer.bat in a text editor. Put this line in the file

bin\ModelViewer.exe

Place file in the DCS main folder. Then execute the batch file.

Help install Warthog into DCS World (Steam)

I have just downloaded/installed DCS World and bought the A-10A Warthog which I downloaded successfully. However, I can't figure out how to install the plane into DCS World which is installed in Steam, while the Warthog is not in Steam. Can someone help me install the plane into DCS World?

Thanks

The A10A is a jet released as part of FC3 and isn't able to run without the install of FC3 for DCS World, the 1.2.8 ver. of FC3 is what is needed to use that jet.

It tells U that in the description. U missed it as the price had more of the attention needed to see that. If it is cheap there is a reason for it. In this case it was because it was a small part of a larger sim.

The issue is more likely that he's trying to activate the license he purchased from ED on Steam and the Licenses haven't been merged with steam yet.

If they purchased the separate A-10A Module they dont need to Have FC3.

You can Purchase SU-25, A-10A, and F-15C Separately from Flaming Cliffs. They do not require the Flaming Cliffs 3 to be installed.

A-10A: DCS Flaming Cliffs (download version)

The A-10A Thunderbolt II, also known as the Warthog, is a 'flying gun'. The aircraft was used extensively during Operation Desert Storm, in support of NATO operations in response to the Kosovo crisis, in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and in Operation Iraqi Freedom. The A-10A is a high-survivability and versatile aircraft, popular with pilots for the 'get home' effectiveness. The mission of the aircraft is ground attack against tanks, armored vehicles and installations, and close air support of ground forces. The Warthog is famous for its massive 30mm cannon, but it can also be armed with Maverick guided missiles and several types of bombs and rockets.

Note: the aircraft model is identical to the Flaming Cliffs 3 module. Owners of FC3 do not need to purchase.

Minimum system requirements: OS 64-bit Windows Vista, 7 or 8; CPU: Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz; RAM: 6 GB; Free hard disk space: 10 GB; Video: 512 MB RAM card, DirectX 9.0c - compatible; Sound: DirectX 9.0c - compatible; requires internet activation.

Recommended system requirements: OS 64-bit Windows Vista, 7 or 8; CPU: Core i5+; RAM: 8GB; Hard disk space: 10 GB; Video: Shader 3.0 or better; NVIDIA GeForce GTX560 / ATI 6950 DirectX 9.0c or better; Sound: DirectX 9.0c - compatible; DirectX: 9.0C; requires internet activation.

IT's in the 1st Post:

Can I use my modules purchased from ED Store on Steam?

Yes except for the Black Shark 1 Upgrade and the Flaming Cliff 3 package (Prior to 1.2.7, 1.2.7 and Above will allow FC3 to Link with Steam).

To do so :

1 - Open Steam, select the "Games" menu located at the top and select "Activate a Product on Steam".

2 - Enter your serial key obtained from ED

To retrieve your serial key from ED :

1 - Access your ED account page which can be viewed by signing in over http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com.

2 - Click on the "Payements" link under your account name

3 - Click "Details" of the purchase made to view the serial key you have previously received for this purchase

Please note that since the keys are purchased from a different source than steam, they will have to be added to the steam database before you are able to recover the game on steam.

See the following note :

We try to provide Steam a new key code dump each month. So for new purchases, there may be a few days before keys are merged.

So I did the 'Activate a product on Steam' thing for my KA-50, UH1H and A-10C modules, all bought ages ago and when I launch DCS now it popups a window with my keys and says I need to copy them and enter them when DCS launches but there's nowhere that DCS prompts me for them.

Anyway, the KA-50 is unlocked now but the other two modules remain locked, so how do I unlock those as well?

Have you already activated through Standalone DCS World?

The keys for Starforce Are likely already in the system registry.

I was just wondering about that, whether the Steam version stores the keys in a different location. Yeah, I've got all the modules installed and unlocked in 1.2.7 standalone but those keys aren't being picked up from the registry by Steam DCS. In fact, if they were, surely we wouldn't need to enter the keys again via 'Activate a game on Steam', which makes me think this stores the keys somewhere else as well.

The registry key is a bit confusing, as it has

Current User\Software\Eagle Dynamics

and under that

Black Shark 2\Keys

DCS World\KA-50 and P-51D (no keys here)

UH1H\Keys

Warthog\Keys

Activate a game on Steam only adds the content and license key to your Account library and downloads the DLC on Steam.

The Actual Module is still activated via Starforce Proactive Prompt that will pop up once and should be automatic (as in it will already have the license key typed in),

But if the Key and hardware code is already in the registry it wont pop up, as the module is already activated.

OK but the Steam DCS openbeta 1.2.8 doesn't recognise them as activated, so what do I do?

Weird, it has only installed the KA-50, not the UH-1H or A-10C. I saw it was downloading 1.8GB and assumed that was all three modules but it turns out most of that is the KA-50 Training videos.

My UH1H keys starts with DX but now Steam is showing a completely different key starting with AT. The KA-50 and A-10C keys show correctly. If I try and enter the UH-1H or A-10C keys again in Steam, it just "Product already owned, click Next to install" but there's no Next, only Finish and that doesn't start it installing.

OK, it's decided to download the other two modules now. I'll check they're working later but they'll probably be OK.

EDIT: Yep, seems fine now.

yeah, steam does that to me all the time, says something is complete and up to date, when it's not, then while I'm playing or a few hours later it will start downloading.

With the end of keys merged to Steam

Are we able to use our Steam-keys to activate our products outside of Steam? I recently purchased TrackIR 5, and got a 60%-off any module code. I was going to purchase either the Sabre or the MiG-21bis (whoever managed to shove their product out the door first), and use the key from the store on Steam. Now that I can't do that, can I use my Steam product keys to activate a non-steam version of each module?

Any idea if the announcement about merging keys to steam means you cannot install modules into your steam DCS World that you bought at ED shop? Or can you mix both steam licensed and ED licensed modules in one install?
