[RESOLVED]Ghost contacts on datalink

occured with 2.5.3.24436

 

In 104th phoenix server, with 1 AWACS: A-50.

With J-11A and Su-27 in one MP session.

Ten or more enemy and friendly unmoving phantom contacts.

(Screenshot with enemy ghost group near Sevastopol /South-West Crimea/)

After I started freshly DCS and connected to the same running server phantom contacts disappeared.

Occured with 2.5.4.29585

 

Phantom datalink contacts are here.

In my short tracks replay, replay don't show those.

DCS restart needed to normal datalink functionality, server reconnect was not enough.

Occured with 2.5.5.33184

 

This time again in the 104th Server after 14+ hours runtime.

This time replay shows at least one phantom enemy pair: EDIT-UNITL exit from DCS

I takeoff from Mozdok in J-11A, the pair is in helo mode with great velocity vector,

I fly over the pair and return unharmed to Beslan, enemy pair still not change state after I parked.

Above track

 

I pass the phantom pair around 20h 58m mission clock.

I saw those in replay until I not exited from the game.

Here are the ingame screenshots.

Please fix datalink initialization or filter out unmoving contacts! Those are not reported by AWACS via radio.

Happening too in small scale missions with 8 players! (4xHornet, 4xJ-11A; I saw yesterday at least 10 enemy, the max real number was 5 with the blue AWACS)

I prefer not to restart DCS before every MP mission that uses flanker datalink!

Bug catched

 

My post #9's (or 8 because one deleted before) track is able to reproduce the bug at any time.

Steps:

-Start DCS fresh

-Play the track https://drive.google.com/file/d/15OzSt9sziyjerSJVC3Q447N7lv0F-bC1/view (optionally at 2x speed) - until the end

-watch this screenshot, you will seach for this pattern: (the four enemy constellation at left center)

-start local DCS server

-load the previously played track as a mission (rename to .miz) to the server

-connect to local server

-choose the first RED J-11A in Mozdok, take off (or choose a su33 at Vaziani...)

-turn on datalink, and fly towards Beslan

-in surprise you will see the played track last live contacts in the private new multiplayer game in

invalid dead unmoving contacts

-be aware: if you fly low until meet the pattern short range sams will kill you

 

The four enemy known by play track ending in a public MP server: (one true enemy fly there)

Addition:

play this mission on the local STANDALONE server (track and track data folders removed and renamed to .miz)

and join to it after the track replay completed. (You need FC3 for the J-11A in cockpit view) You will see a lot of dead (In original gameplay CLIENT) contacts from the replay.

lightweight reproduction + progress

 

I made a lightweight reproduction method. Time saving compared to the real world mission.

I once even restarted OS, I reproduced 3 times and recorded a video what you should see after all steps. (3 of 5 enemy bombers stuck on screen and the awacs's old position by EWR)

 

Steps

-optional restart windows

-restart DCS

-play track (EnemyGhostclients-20190801-195010_2,5,5,34108blueEWR+redbombers.trk) until end - very short ;-)

(two menu actions done: EWR site activation, 5 enemby bombers activation; you can do it live on your standalone server, but after reload the mission)

-familiarize with datalink picture at track ending state:

-run standalone server

-load this mission in standalone server (https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=213694&stc=1&d=1563040691) with this same mission the track was created

-join to local server (do not initiate menu actions)

-choose any flanker slot

-turn on datalink

-If you do everything in the right way, the result:

-optionally spawn any time you want

-optionally reconnect to server and examine datalink screens again

situation: something changed but bug still exists

 

EnemyGhostclients.miz still do the job:

-Start dedicated server, load this mission (run with clients state)

-start DCS client, join this mission

-occupy any hot Flanker slot at Mozdok (J-11A, Su-27, Su-33)

-press 2 for datalink

-observe your own awacs (moving)

-turn on EWR ground station / from F10 optional comm. menu

-activate 5 enemy bombers north of Mozdok / from F10 optional comm. menu

-wait for all 5 bombers pop up in datalink

-take a screenshot of the datalink screen

-leave server

 

-at dedicated server, load freshly this mission (run with clients state) /no emeny bombers in air, EWR site inactive at start/

-ALT-TAB to runnning DCS client, join this mission

-occupy any hot Flanker slot at Mozdok (J-11A, Su-27, Su-33)

-press 2 for datalink

-observe your datalink screen shows what in your latest screenshot, with enemy bombers

which clearly not available now in F2 and F10 views

even your live awacs not on that picture (that needed to move, but you see the frozen from the previous net session)

 

-extra step:

-turn on EWR ground station / from F10 optional comm. menu

-voila: GHOST contacts disappear, datalink start showing your live awacs position

 

EDIT: you can repeat this without DCS client restart, if you leave a server mission with contacts and an EWR on,

next net session -which is started with aerial awacs- shows the previous mission contacts as ghosts.
