Dave317
I've just got a new reverb pro a few days ago and have been amazed by the difference it makes to DCS. I currently have a gtx 1070 which I knew would need upgrading when I got the reverb. From a brief look I can get a used GTX1080 ti for approx £450 or a brand new RTX2070 Super for about the same price. It seems like a no brainer to get the RTXbut am I missing something? (OMG I feel sick too)
Habu_69
For my Reverb I upgraded from GTX-1070 to RTX 2070 Super. Seems to run DCS fine and I am happy with my choice.

Marujet
Same situation but I have an overclocked 1080 and it seems to run fine. I plan to pick up the upcoming ampere 3xxx as an upgrade which will be using the 7nm fab. If you can wait 6 months or so I would suggest to do the same. Dave317
£450 is pretty much at the top of my price range really. I assume the new generation will cost a small fortune to start with.
FoxTwo
2070 super will be marginally faster than the 1080ti (5% maybe).
Icebeat
I will wait until May-June for a new graphic card (NVidia will release the new 30XX) and the price of the current generation should be reduced.

speed-of-heat
something i have noticed, is the amount of graphics memory it consumes. something like 9.5gb of Video RAM on my 1080ti... my instinct is to suggest that yi cards are a must not for the power, per say .. but definitely for the RAM SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware Intel Corei7-12700KF @ 5.1/5.3p & 3.8e GHz, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Dell S2716DG, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat

Gnadentod
2070 super will be marginally faster than the 1080ti (5% maybe). 1080 Ti has more VRAM, which translates into possibly higher texture quality. I'm maxed out on a 5700XT 8GB GDDR6 with Terrain Textures on high, there's a little more room when I set them to low. I have the good cockpit shadows on though. Bob_Bushman
I'm running a rift-s on 1080ti at 1.2 pd and MSAA 2x and DCS takes at least 10.1GB VRAM at all times. Unlike most other normal games that usually stay under half that. The 2070 is good no doubt, but I'm not switching yet, besides I'm certain there will be 30 series soon. Dave317
If/when the new 3080 cards arrive this year is it likely that the 2080's will drop much in price? There's no way I can convince the missus to get a £1k card at the minute but I could for a £450 card. If the 2080ti's are likely to drop to this price I'll hang on. GunSlingerAUS
If you can wait for the 3080 Ti in June-ish, go for it. If you can't, or you have money to spare, grab a 2080 Ti now. The Reverb eats up every ounce of GPU horsepower, and then some. You'll also need a beast of a CPU due to the way the EDGE engine of DCS calculates shadows. speed-of-heat
a 1080ti is fine, I had a 1070ti before that was ... below par... on my spec on my settings i get a good gaming experience. wormeaten
If/when the new 3080 cards arrive this year is it likely that the 2080's will drop much in price? There's no way I can convince the missus to get a £1k card at the minute but I could for a £450 card. If the 2080ti's are likely to drop to this price I'll hang on. 1080Ti, 2070Super and 5700XT is cards with very similar performances. 1080Ti used and 2070Super as new are around £450. 5700XT is around £370. New 3070 will be in performance similar to 2080Super in similar way as it is 2070Super to 1080Ti. As well so called Big Navi is anounced this summer too with performances better than 2080Super too. All this will affect on prices as well no matter which card in the end you buy, Nvidia or AMD. Anyway interesting summer. This 3070 expected to be in your £450 range just for comparison. My advice is, buy 5700XT as a transition card till Christmas when all Nvidia or AMD models will be available and in stable release. Difference to £450 save as part of savings to buy something better on Christmas and sell this 5700xt. One of the reasons why 5700XT now is price and less you will lost latter when you are selling it. Other reason is to see is it AMD capable to compite with Nvidia on your personal level. What you are preferring more and is this higher price but not in performances for Nvidia is worth. Be open minded and don't be a slave to any brend just reword best value to your needs.
