The Fish gets New Scales!

Dear pilots,

As you are aware, the release of Normandy is imminent. This of course is a part of a much bigger affair, related to a new version of Digital Combat Simulator. Thus, we would like to inform you that in accordance to a certain change in graphics engine which involves the introduction of PBR shaders, we were obliged to prepare a completely new set of textures for the MiG-21bis module.

PBR or Physically Based Rendering is a model in computer graphics that attempts to render graphics in a fashion that more precisely models the flow of light in the real world. This of course means that there is a small possibility of new bugs to appear, so be aware of that. However, we would like to ask you not to focus on them so much, specifically there is no need to make individual bug reports as we are already aware of most of the bugs and work tirelessly to fix all of them.

We also would like to report that soon there will be a new livery template released for the MiG-21bis.

Please, be aware that with the new version of the game all the bugs should be reported under 2.1 Bug Section, bugs related to 2.0 version will not be accepted.

See you in the skies !

Does this include the cockpit as well or just the exterior model

That does look impressive. Did only the blank NM finish livery get updated for now, or will we see a couple of others reworked for tomorrow as well?

Hi guys, it's 0330 here and I just woke up. My sleep schedule is chaotic this week. I'm trying to at least fix the glass for the cockpit. As you know, Cobra did an excellent job on it, but since I took over, I need to get familiar with his settings. If I don't make it, it'll be in another update.

Since Magnitude is making a new livery template, may I suggest you please make the templates like how ED has done for their templates. I'm a noob in skin making and I find the ED templates much easier to work with.

The current MiG-21 template is really a pain to work with as I really don't know how to even color it, it goes crazy when I try to color it. The ED templates are so much easier. If you decide to stick with the old template approach, at least please make a manual on how to skin the MiG-21. Thanks

Updated to DSC World 2.1 and decided to create a mission to check out Nevada and possibly the PBR Lighting

Never saw anything like this lighting in DCS World 1.5

Cockpit has even more personality now

Thanks guys :),

The cockpit textures are still not PBR shader friendly though.

Working between our next project and the MiG-21 the updates for openAlpha will slowly roll in. Just keep in mind, "openAlpha"

Since Cobra worked on the cockpit, I'm still thumbing through his work and getting familiar with his settings. Our workflows are different, so it'll take some adjusting on my side.

Look outside at the skins, Oil everywhere, and dial up the red backlights. They are bugged. Also a strange green tone wíothout back light is present in needles and some instruments.

Waiting for the next update to see if they can fix it.

Anyway the cockpit looks much better now.
