New Roadside Rearm/Refuel Capability Over the Past Year?

Scanning youtube and the forum, looks like the most recent posts were a year ago, and the capability then was only available when the a/c was sitting on top of a FARP. Has this improved any over the past year? If not, any roadside capability similar to the Viggen on the roadmap?

Thanks!

Define "sitting on top of a FARP".

The big helipad FARPs that ED provides in the ME has the problem that you can only receive maintenance if your are physically on top of one of the helipads, but to get on top of them you have to do it like an helo does it by hover-flying. The problem is, if you've come to the helipad in an emergency situation and are not able to land exactly on top of one of the pads and cannot go into a hover to move onto one, you're screwed.

Like what if your fuel just ran out while landing or if you have engine damage? If you think those assh*le maintenance guys hired by ED are going to move the fuel truck or their repair gear over to you... lazy ef-ing bastards!

I can really only suggest trying SUNTSAG's Marsden FARP plates to build a roadside FARP. AFAIK if you are anywhere on top of one of the plates, you can receive maintenance.

The only problem with them is that the ground where you place them must be extremely flat or else some strange things might happen while rolling over them. Also, they don't work with every aircraft, for whatever reason. Apparently the wheels of some aircraft were not programmed to work off runways, and just break down or explode on poorly place FARP plates or when move between FARP plate and road. So testing is mandatory.

Of course you might also want to start a mission on a FARP, and SUNTSAG has you covered there too (that guy thinks of -- an realizes -- everything  ) Mod that allowed aircraft to start from anywhere. However, don't use SUNTSAG's download; do the mod manually and use OvGME - New Generic Mod Enabler to manage it, or just do it manually. The mod is just a few lines added to a certain lua script and the script gets changed by ED occasionally, so if you change it, your changes can get over-written sometimes. You need to check if the lua script has changed at every update; that's just the cost of having the privilege :smilewink:

Thanks for the background, and will play with the Marsden FARP. As a non-mod option, I tested the large FARP as a potential rolling take-off/landing option. The back third of the FARP doesn't have raised helo pads and there is enough distance for a wet take-off with 27k lbs ordnance/fuel. It's not the same as landing on a road with road-side truck support (Razbam do please put on the roadmap), but it's something.

That has been my typical usage as well. Rearm/refuel works anywhere on the "green", and as legearre said there's room for a rolling vertical takeoff. As always, using what we have and wishing for more!
