Quick question regarding steam licenses

Hammer1-1

Recommended Posts

Ive looked, and some information I am looking for is hard to sort out. I bought the F-18, AV-8 and the Iran map on steam due to some big issue I had with my card not being accepted with Sage Pay. Can I port the serials to DCS or vice versa? It doesnt really matter to me, but thats a lot of downloading.

No .. if you purchased them on Steam, you must install DCS on Steam, as the serials wont work on ED's standalone version.

How about the other way around?

Its the same .. DLCs purchased at ED's store, cant be used on a Steam installation.

The only serials that can be "moved" are Steam DLCs that use Starforce serials (that is, DLC's released prior to the Mirage 2000) ... those are the only DLCs that can be moved from Steam to Standalone (and not from Standalone to Steam).

are there are still plans to change this at some point?

i remember some official statesments implying, that with the new approach to DRM, ED were trying to make steam and stand-alone compatible again.

maybe i have overinterpreted that though.

that being said, i think we all can agree, that it would be much appreciated, if the licences would become interchangeble eventually...
