Question re: high altitude throttle response

The higher you go in the MiG-15 you increasingly lose the ability to throttle down the engine.

 

In this video you can see the throttle controls indicator is at zero yet the engine revs remain practically constant.

 

 

That was up at 50,000ft but the 'problem' manifests itself much lower and only becomes more pronounced as you climb higher. Throttling up doesn't seem to be affected (see 2:00).

 

Is this normal behaviour?

Thanks for the info...makes it very hard to descend without overspeeding!

 

The engine is at idle thrust. RPM is meaningless there.

 

The over speed is because you are very close to maximum Mach in level flight that high. If you weren't you would be in a stall. You are creeping into the coffin corner up there.
