Do we need an airquake server for WW2?

Great, by which I mean the three separate groups of units to bombard. After all were destroyed, blue won, and the mission was reset.

I find it weird that some decide to fly the most realistic simulation of this warbirds, but then wish to use them in the least realistic way ?

Historical scenarios are great but not required to enjoy the realistic flight/avionics. My ass gets sore flying around for 2 hours and maybe seeing one or two other players, and sometimes not seeing them at all because aircraft spotting is so crappy with warbirds in DCS. Fix the visibility and pilot density and I'd be excited to participate in historical scenarios.

I'm coming to the discussion a bit late, but I'm at a loss here. Steel Balls IS the WWII DCS airquake server. It has exactly what everyone here is asking for. Short distance between Axis and Allied airfields:check. Bots to spawn in-case server numbers are low: check. AAA for airfield defense to prevent (most) vulching: check.

Not sure what else you need. Also BS is only on beta which is unfortunate. But Steel Balls is on stable. I just came off it this morning and thankfully somebody was on. Just show up honestly, and guarantee folks will join.

Upfront, I have pretty much zero interest in Airquake.

However, I DO believe that it's appropriate for us as a community to have that type of server.

Quite simply, some of the player base want to play that way, and lets face it, when we have the number of servers online that we do, why shouldn't some be configured for a more specialised form or gameplay, whatever that may be (as long as players want to use it).

That's one reason why I always get confused when a player makes a gameplay suggestion for a server, and others hammer it just because that's what THEY are not interested in.

If there's enough interest, do it, whether it's airquake, aerobatics, whatever.

System: 9700, 64GB DDR4, 2070S, NVME2, Rift S, Jetseat, Thrustmaster F18 grip, VPC T50 stick base and throttle, CH Throttle, MFG crosswinds, custom button box, Logitech G502 and Marble mouse.

Server: i5 2500@3.9Ghz, 1080, 24GB DDR3, SSD.

So there it is, want airquake? there you have it.

or is what people are asking here for; even more airquake-like server which has airstarts, and the ideology of guaranteed air battle in first 5 minutes of flight on the server?

i remember these from old IL2, and they were allways packed, but with lots of traffic of people leaving and connecting aswell, so people didn't stay that long in those servers. just went in for a quick fun.

I think there is a reason why the servers are what they are now, WWII in dcs is not a new thing, pony vs 190 has been around for long time and all possible server configurations were tested in the beginning if all this.

That said, I wouldn't mind having one of those superquickie servers in DCS aswell, but i believe we dont have enough dcs WWII pilots to have that sorta thing now. there were 500-800 people allways on IL2 section of HyperLobby (GOD how much i miss that thing!) that might just go in for a few fights and then hang out in the lobby or maybe participate in coops if there were any good ones (and there WERE).

But no one is stopping anyone from putting up a server like that. i'd hop in to see what it's like.

I didn't realize that some servers weren't running the beta. The release version does not include the memory manager.

i can only speak for myself, but AI fighters ruin the fun for me and they are not helping performance either. besides imo for a true airquake Server, airspawns are better fitting, and ultimately is the only reliable way to Really Stop vulching...if that Server would meet these requirements, then i would join it, if it would run in open beta...

The sole reason I never do ww2 in dcs mp anymore is that where the numbers are it is normandy and ww2 asset pack. I have no plans to buy these.

And I am sure there are others like me who do not see the return value in this. Free map & staying with most popular dcs version (OB or R) is a good alternative to get more in.

+1 to the idea of an airquake server, with airspawns at short distances...

Air Quake Spits on Spits in the caucus would be an interesting diversion that I could get somewhat addicted to gladly. If I had 2 cents to rub together it'd already be done.

No complaints about mismatched aircraft could ensue.

Air starts are something I would have to mull over though. Too much crashing to re-ammo up would be the result of that I would think. That behavior is rampant in the MP world in other game/sims. One needs to cherish and earn their ammo and take care of their aircraft.

I am back to new to DCS multiplayer totally since it's been a couple years and I barely got a taste of it before. There is not much out there that appeals to the Spitfire in open servers. So be it. I actually enjoyed having an F-15 on my wing for a few seconds the other day. I thought "A real human wow". 3 seconds out of 4 hours. Multiplayer? Excuse me? Ain't happening here in the daytime.

I am home pretty much all day every day and man it's hard to find a logical game.

I mean 4 spits and 83 Jets? LOL. Whatever. Enjoy! We'll get there.

I do own a 109, 'stang and an F-15 as well but the Spitfire has me hooked bad now.
