Update the old bomber models

Knock-Knock

Recommended Posts

Tu-95, Tu-142, Tu-160, B-52, B-1B and so on. Man their models are old.

Intercepting the new Su-34, Su-24, Tu-22 is great, and they look fantastic. But getting anywhere near the above mentioned, well ouf.

And soon we need those for...

Yeah, it feels like ED are all over the place, fixing one thing there, adding a small thing there. I'd like to see a focused effort in one area instead, for example as OP implies; Update many of the old models!

Yeah, while new assets like the Rapier, HY-2 launcher etc, are very welcome, I'd personally rather ED get the new stuff up to date rather than adding new.

So far the Su-34 is getting an update in the very near future (might already have been released on the OB)

ED has been updating most of the weapons, I mean the new bombs look gorgeous, only a few weapons to update and then as far as they're concerned they're done.

There's plenty of planes in dire need of a rework as well as a couple that maybe could do with some touching up.

So far the aircraft models in need of an update (looking at current release build), most of these on this list are in need of a completely new 3D model and texture set, however I have also listed some that could do with some minor bits and pieces and are as such not a priority).

  • A-50 - minor texture/model touch up
  • B-1B - rework
  • B-52H - rework
  • C-17A - rework
  • CH-53E - rework
  • F-117A - rework
  • F-16C (Coming as module)
  • F-4E (Coming as module)
  • IL-75MD - minor texture/model touch up
  • IL-78 - minor texture/model touch up
  • KJ-2000 - minor texture/model touch up
  • MiG-23MLD - rework
  • MiG-25PD - rework
  • MiG-25RBT - rework
  • MiG-27K - rework
  • Mirage 2000-5 - rework
  • MQ/RQ-1 - very minor stuff, barely noticeable
  • S-3B - rework
  • SH-60B - rework
  • Su-17M4 - rework
  • Su-25T - minor model/texture changes - just to put it on par with the FC3 Su-25
  • Su-25TM - as above, although listed but not present in ME
  • Su-30 - rework
  • Su-34 (already in OB)
  • Tornado - rework
  • Tu-142M - rework
  • Tu-160 - rework
  • Tu-95 - rework
  • Yak-40 - very minor texture/model

As for weapons most are perfectly up to scratch and the newer bombs that ED has released look fantastic, there are however still a limited number that could do with a rework. (I swear I saw an updated P-500 model ages back, but seen nothing of it since)...

Quite a few ground vehicles are also in need of a touch up, and some reworks. Most of them are fine and it's just minor things like the tracks (if you look at some vehicles the track is pixel thin and moves in a very jagged way, not something the WWII asset pack vehicles suffer from or the Merkava IV suffers from. If ED ever does realistic suspension modelling (currently the wheels/tracks are fixed to the ground and the hull (incl. suspension) just randomly bobs up and down, independently of the tracks and wheels, sometimes clipping, not at all like reality) this will probably need to change if we ever get full-fidelity ground vehicles.

As for ships, for the very limited number that we have quite a few in need of a rework, we're getting a new Kuznetsov but no news for the Krivak II, Neustrashimyy, Kirov (Pyotr Velikiy), Grisha-V. However even some newer ones could do with minor touch ups.

Modules I own: F-14A/B, Mi-24P, AV-8B N/A, AJS 37, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk.
