I wonder why they refuel while in A/A mode with the Sparrow selected.

 

 

Maybe a radar-lock to scare the tanker-pilot a little. :D

Ex-grunt here. Unfortunately for me of a military flying career slipped through the fingers. Got the call to attend flight screening in Tamworth a few years after I left the Army, but butchered my OSB performance.

Thanks for sharing these pictures with us, I love the steam-gauged early 4-th gen fighters. A time when pilots were pilots, instead of pushing computer buttons and let the aircraft fly itself.

 

 

And that lightly brass-colored nosecone, that brings fond memories back...
