GENERAL

Q: What are the system requirements?

A: System requirements are yet to be finalized as the product is still being developed. However, preliminary requirements are as follows:

Minimum system requirements:

Windows XP, Vista, or 7, Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz or equivalent, 3GB RAM, 7GB free hard drive space, 512MB DirectX9-compatible graphics card, DirectX9.0c-compatible sound, requires internet activation.

Recommended system requirements:

64-bit Windows Vista or 7, Core 2 Duo E8400, AMD Phenom X3 8750 or better, 4GB RAM, 7GB free hard drive space, 896MB Geforce GTX260 or better supporting DirectX 9.0c and Shader 3.0, DirectX9.0c-compatible sound, requires internet activation.

Q: Will DCS: P-51D Mustang be online-compatible with other DCS products?

A: Yes, owners of the Mustang will be able to fly online alongside owners of DCS Black Shark and DCS A-10C Warthog, assuming the mission selected for the server is made to accommodate this.

Q: What about future DCS jets?

A: We will continue to develop modern aircraft as well.

Q: When will the P-51 be released?

A: During 2012. However, if you pre-order through digitalcombatsimulator.com you can play the open beta today.

Q: Will a world war 2 era map be included?

A: No, DCS is an open simulation environment, it is not a simulation of a specific time period.

Q: Will units from the world war 2 era exist, like ME-109's and Ju-87's?

A: That has yet to be determined. While we understand the desire for WW2 counterpart aircraft, DCS is not intended to be a full WW2 era simulation.

Q: What about feature X?

A: A more detailed feature list will be made available later, as the product gets closer to release.

Q: Are there any screenshots released?

A: Yes, you can find some screenshots in the announcement, here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1381981&postcount=1

Q: Why was the P-51 selected?

A: The P-51 began as a side project by some of the staff and showed good progress. Rather than put that effort to waste, we decided to flesh it out and release as a new aircraft for DCS.

Q: How is the P-51 supposed to fit into DCS? This makes no sense to me.

A: DCS is an open simulation environment, not confined to any one era, level of fidelity, or 1st party development. In the future ED and 3rd parties may add all sorts of different units ranging from gliders to X-51s.

Q: How is a P-51 supposed to fight in a modern Georgian war against modern aircraft and air defense systems?

A: It simply does not need to. It is up to the mission designer to put what units he or she wishes into the mission.

Q: How much will it cost?

A: The pre-order that gives access to the open beta costs $39.99

Q: Does DCS: P-51D Mustang use copy protection?

A: Yes, it uses the new user-friendly ProActive AAA Technology.

You will no longer have a fixed number of activations, but in an effort to prevent piracy the system does limit the number of activations per month. Your DCS P-51D Mustang serial number is initially set to 8 activations and when they all are spent, 1 activation is added automatically once, after 31 days.

ProActive AAA Technology does not install any drivers on your PC. It works as an integrated part of the DCS files but has no special privileges in your system.

For more information, please refer to this forum thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=59002

Q: Where are my missions, tracks, options settings, and screen shots saved?

A: For Windows 7 users, look in your /Users/(name)/Saved Games/DCS folder. If you wish to do a complete re-installation, you may with to remove this folder.

Q: Why does X not work?

A: DCS P-51D is currently in beta and several features are still being worked on. Please check this list for current open beta status: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=87556

If your issue is not covered by that link, please consider filing a bug report through the Bugs and Problems forum sections. You can find some helpful guidelines on how to make a good bug report and general troubleshooting through this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=88164
