Training Missions for the JF-17

When I play the mission nothing happens when I press the CNTL button (2:21 mark in video). I press the button, the text box stays the same, and mission doesn't proceed...

The button is beside the CNTL text, you are not clicking on the CNTL text itself, isn't it?

:) the thought crossed my mind because the highlight is on the CNTL text rather than on the button

Just wanted to say someone who's new to DCS and has purchased this module as a first these missions have been a huge help! Thank you so much for taking the time to create and share.

On another note, there is a bug with M10. When you get to the section of setting radar to 80nm setting, it doesn't register. I tried both via screen buttons and joystick keys but nothing register and the mission gets stuck there.

Again, thank you for making these and sharing them!

Thanks for reporting, I will check it tonight

I've not abandoned this Series, but the Air-Air Refueling mission I was editing didnt work out :( .. I tried about 20 times but couldn't get the damn probe onto the basket

so, I placed it on the "try again later" bin, and began editing a different mission, a SEAD training mission, and hopefully I will have it finished this week. :)

Hi Eduardo, keep your work please, your training missions are awesome!!. In M10 stops when ask you setting radar to 80nm, may be its a bug?

Thank you both for the bug report. I've checked the Misssion and I have mixed news:

1) It seems a recent update changed the internal codes for the objects on the Radar Screen. I updated the mission to use the new codes and now the highlighting of the radar elements works as intended.

2) However, I found that the Air-Sea Radar has a bug that prevents sucessful lock of the target ships. You can still fire the missiles, since their own radar can detect the ships to a certain extent, but the one directed with TP 31 will miss .. use TP 30 for both missiles.

Please download the updated mission again from the link on the first post of this thread.

In the meantime I will report to DEKA the bug with the lock of the ships, hopefully they can fix it soon.

Best regards,

Eduardo

Edit: I found that the radar lock bug is already reported: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=268713

On this video you can see the bug in action ... I lock the target, but the lock last only a couple of seconds:

Bump

Just some points, maybe they help:

- using VR IMHO makes AAR way esier

- put the JF-17 into AG config(AG1/AG2 doesn't matter) -> way less twitchy

- don't try to stop your forward movement at the basket -> for me this only end in overcorrection/oscillation :joystick: and you don't have enough space for corrections(speed/forward/aft movement) becasue of the slow engine response

- don't try to align yourself to much with anything(at least in VR) just keep a slow approach speed to the basket and correct your position, works pretty good for me maybe for you too. It's like driving at the highway, everyone is driving fast but the relative speed to each other is quit slow so you have time to correct and adjust

Attached are two tracks from the JF-17 AAR(day) instant action mission, recorded in VR so the playback could be a little shaky.

AAR1 i nearly screwed up the connection because of a to high approach speed

AAR2 worked pretty good

After connecting to the basked you will realize that keeping the connection is harder than the actual connection :D , at least for me, because of the slow response. But a slow approach in the first place helps here too.

I hope you get it figured out for you to work.

Hello,

Thanks a lot for all the tips and I will make sure to take a look at the tracks. I never got to finish editing that Mission, so it is not in a state where anyone can test it.

Currently, I'm enjoying editing a SEAD mission and dont want to interrupt it, so I will finish it first, hopefully within a few more days as it is 70% complete at this point. As soon as I get it finished, I will attempt to retake the AAR one.

Thanks a lot for the help and best regards,

Eduardo

Hello,

Just wanted to let you know that today I've added the 15th Mission to this Set, about the employment of the LD-10 Anti-Radar Missiles. I enjoyed editing it because it seems almost a regular Mission rather than a Training one, as the aircraft starts on the Ground rather than on the Air. It has been added on the first post of this thread.

Best regards,

Eduardo

And why are you not making these for ED as an employee? These are awesome. i have not flown the 17 sense i bought it because there were only two of them that came with it. And i never even knew these existed until i happened to see reference of them on a you tube video.

Rudel, you really outdone yourself! Latest training mission is amazing!

10/10 would get destroyed by SAM again.

Will try it again tomorrow.

Now I wish F/A-18 also had training missions of such detail as you do for JF-17.

Thanks for the fix on M10 mission. The issue with radar zoom is now fixed. I ran into another odd bug but it was at the very end and could just be an issue on my end. The problem is for the missile taking the longer approach it seems to lose tracking and ends up blowing itself up before it ever gets to the target. Now i dont know if this happens because:

1. target originally targeted was killed by missile 1 (is it right that the missile seeks new targets in that area?)

2. The missile runs out of steam

Again thanks for the missions, its been so helpful and they are professionally done. I hope you and the devs can work something out because this is truly a great training package for those buying into their product.

Fantastic Mission!

... These are awesome..

I would say that rudel deserves his name in the signed by section at this point as a special recognition.

Thank you all, for your very kind words .. I’m so glad that you seem to be enjoying these missions

I have to join the praise for the most recent mission - fantastic mission with added fun of Anapa being so busy I got to practice a go around on late finals when there were 4 UH60s stacked up on the runway waiting to get onto the taxiway :)

Yes indeed, the random traffic forces one to be more careful near the airbases, or this can happen if one is distracted:
