In an effort to be more transparent and consistent in how forum warnings and posting suspensions are issued, we are starting new guidelines today. We hope that this will remove any mystery on this subject.

These new guidelines are a work-in-progress and we will tune them based member feedback and how they work in practice.

Most of all, we want them to be fair, clear and accountable.

When a warning is given, a note (including a quote of offending post when necessary) from a moderator will be made via the warning system. If you have not already, please read the Warning System FAQ here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=144189

For users with warnings that do not match the new guidelines, they can contact a moderator and we will adjust the warning level to match the new guidelines. Many users have had their posting privileges reinstated on our forums in the last two days.

Forum Warning Guidelines

Details:

• Most warnings expire after 3 months.

• Permanent removal of posting privileges are only given out by Eagle Dynamics staff.

Warning levels

• Lvl 1. 10 percent (expires in 3 months)

• Lvl 2. 20 percent (expires in 3 months)

• Lvl 5. Permanent removal of posting privileges (by Eagle Dynamics staff)

Lvl 1. – 10 percent warning (expires in 3 months):

• Sustained pattern of off-topic posts or an off-topic post in an area were it has been explicitly stated that off-topic or discussions will not be allowed.

• Discussion of administrative actions against forum members. See Warning System FAQ here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=144189

• Signature that does not meet forum rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en

• Reviews and discussion of other flight simulation games. News items are only permitted. This is a company website, not a general gaming website.

Lvl 2. – 20 percent warning (expires in 3 months):

• Using vulgar words/nicks/signature

• Multiplayer disputes

• Sexual content

Lvl 3. – 30 percent warning (expires in 3 months):

• Undermining forum moderation with duplicate posts, re-starting closed or removed threads, and creating alias (sock puppet) accounts

• Political and religious comments accounts

• First instance of module trading or selling

• Illegal / unauthorized links to copyrighted content

• 1.10 First offense (this warning will expire in 12 months though)

Lvl 4. – 40 percent permanent warning (no expiration).

• Two or more instances of module trading or selling

• Attacks on Eagle Dynamics staff, other forum members or moderators

• Product feedback that is abusive, insulting or condescending. However, critical feedback that is mature, truthful and reasonable is welcome

• Posting of online cheating and exploit methods

• Posting links to phishing/scam pages

• Pornographic content

• Racist comments

• EULA violations

Lvl 5. – Immediate and permanent removal of posting privileges

• Bot advertising

• Links to or advocating piracy

• Alias accounts of members that have had their posting privileges revoked and proxy accounts

In cases of threats of violence and other extreme behavior, an immediate 100% warning, one year suspension will be issued.

Removal of posting privileges actions:

• 20% Total Warning Level: posting privileges revoked for 1 day

• 30% Total Warning Level: posting privileges revoked for 1 week

• 40% Total Warning Level: posting privileges revoked for 1 month.

Each warning over 40% adds another month.

A 100 percent warning level will result in removal of posting privileges for one year.

If posting privileges are suspended, product support is still provided with the Support Ticket system.

Note 1: Off topic posts that seek to hijack a thread will either be removed, moved, or merged.

Dear all,

Thank you for the feedback. Over the past several days we have adjusted/improved the guidelines based on the feedback here and other websites.

We are now happy with the results and will be localizing the guidelines.

Thanks
