jozeff
Hi everyone, I have the Huey but I'm also interested in the mi8. Does it have training or tutorial missions? Or are there training missions available? I found the training missions for the Huey a bit minimal. I want to fly the mi8 in VR. Is it possible to switch views? It's a large aircraft so I need to be able to switch views I Guess. Thanks for your thoughts Jozeff
Rudel_chw
I have the Huey but I'm also interested in the mi8. Does it have training or tutorial missions? It cames with only 4 training missions: - Cold Start - ARC9 - Doppler - Weapons Sadly, no take off or landing ... tough there are several good YT tutorials, for example: pZbV_APuYV4 Best regards For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600X - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia GTX1070ti - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar - Oculus Rift CV1 Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
jozeff
Ok thanks! One more question.... Is the mi8 very hard to fly compared to the Huey? I'm a bit scared of literally hundreds of switches.... I want to focus on transport like flying and not so much shooting stuff. The problem I have with the Huey is that it's so unstable. As soon as i'm focusing on other things I crash. Is the oilfield campaign for the mi8 focussed on transport or fighting? Thanks again!! Holton181
Many people have problems with VRS when coming in for landing/hovering. You need to take it very slow in the beginning, watching the VSI and never exceed 3m/s down (yes, graded in m/s, not fet/minutes). Be prepared with the collective when leaving ETL (lott of shaking and rattling indicate it) Helicopters and Viggen DCS 1.5.7 and OpenBeta Win7 Pro 64bit i7-3820 3.60GHz P9X79 Pro 32GB GTX 670 2GB VG278H + a Dell PFT Lynx TrackIR
FragBum
It's likely more a case of practice, I find the Mi-8 easier than the Huey keep in mind you don't have an IP (instructor pilot) with you and your controls/setup is important. It's sometimes easier to learn if you can get some help on a multiplayer server to talk you through the basics and get you started. Unfortunately crashing is part and parcel of it, fortunately that's fine in DCS we all get to walk away. Oil Rig is more a case of getting the feel for landing with bugger all references apart from a platform sticking out of the sea, as has been said keeping sink rate (VSI) in check is key to well any helicopter. Happy to help if we can get time windows to sync. Edited October 29, 2018 by FragBum <typo> Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment. Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above.
