[FIXED INTERNALLY] Strange sun

I was hoping today, the defect will be removed, unfortunately that did not happen. I'm afraid the fix will not be even to the end of the year.

So here is a makeshift repair, that is jsgme compatible, and it passes the test of integrity.

Sun still bugged after 13/02 update

Ok so the update effectively corrected the canopy reflections while it is oppened, and the big white glowing sun as long as we don't look at it through the canopy, but it still looks glitched if we look at it through the hood, and it glows through the intruments as well.

It appears that some people have it, while some people don't, depending on their video options, so here are mines attached with the screens. I don't play in VR.

I really appreciate that the devs finally took time to try and fix the plane, which is appreciated, but it's still there and I think a lot of people would like to see it go as quickly as possible (me first), it's been present since several months.

Thanks

FYI, this seems to be now fixed for me.... need to confirm with a few more flights though

edit: have flown 2 sorties now (daytime set to 0600 and 0500) and in neither did I see the sun glare through the cockpit or the wing. . .

I still have it, though

That setting doesn't make a difference for me, I have the effect with both on or off. Do you see a difference?

My way of testing: disable mods - run an update/repair/clean routine - use the instant action/Caucasus/free flight mission - bank right, look left at the sun through the left wing

So when you do the same you don't have the 'strange sun' anymore?

I just updated to the latest version, but removed all the shader-related folders (FXO folders etc) as par of the process. I#m not in front of my gaming PC right now so I can't list all the fodlers I removed as part of the jupdate, but ther were all located in the user-data parts of DCS (under windows/my documents/games etc...)

Here's a vid, which seems to show this fixed for me at least - was filmed last night.

So I ran the routine again and deleted the fxo and metashaders2 folders in C:\Users\user\Saved Games\DCS\ again.

Still see it but noticed that it's definitely linked to the canopy as the sun looks normal once I open the (canopy) glass (first picture with open canopy: you see the disc in the front left window but not with the open canopy, pictures two and three are the mirror with canopy open and closed).

It also still shows through the front dash.

Is something new going on in this case? Maybe should we accept that it will be so and nobody will take care of it anymore. In a few other modules there was the same problem and it was repaired a long time ago, and nothing happens here. It would be good if someone from ED finally wrote something here.

I think they just treat us lightly. I do not see any other explanation. I do not think that this is an unresolvable problem, rather very easy, only nobody wants to take care of it.
