If I start the mission with the engine running, my goal is heading North, but if I start with the engine down, the goal is heading East. I am doing something wrong? Quadg Posted November 7, 2019 Share Posted November 7, 2019 (edited) you need to set the gyro compass to the magnetic heading when you start the huey. when you hot start the gyro compass is set for you. use the knob below the gyro compass to set it. lots of mission designers start you facing north so you don't need to move the gyro much. a gyro compass will always use straight ahead as north, when you first turn it on. you need to then set it to magnetic north as part of your start up procedure.
