Another thing, sorry, i'm great at debugging, the messages are coming up for multiple people at once for some reason. Probably the same bug as before accessing groups in MP.

 

Thats because they are in the same group. As commented in the top of the script:

At the moment, because of limitations within DCS to not show messages to individual units, the reference, measurements, and messages are done per group. So a group of 4 fighters will each receive 4 BRA messages. Each message however, will have the player's name in it, that its refering to. Its unfortunate, but nothing I can do about it.
To avoid this the mission designer will have to have them as separate groups. I should clarify that the measurements will be correct for each player's BRA, just the ability to send messages to individual units doesn't exist. The F10 menus are per group as well. So if flight lead (or 2 or 3 for that matter) turn the messages off, the entire group wont receive messages.

 

No worries about picking stuff up, its great that you are, as I haven't had a chance to test on a large scale and I'm sorry for the bugs you have found so far. I've create a fix which I will put up soon for the detection of the ground radars, its not an ideal implementation but fixes the problem until I get a work around.

 

EDIT: That fix is active too now

- Added option to allow picture report to be requested thru F10 menu instead of an automated display - Thanks Zaz0 for the suggestion

- Fixed bug where known units would still be displayed as unknown.

THank you Steggles, nice script. I see that there is too much room on the right of the message. Would it be possible to move the message more to the right so it does not bother the cockpit view?

 

I'm not too sure this is possible. The text area is predefined by DCS and I can't change it when I display the messages nor can I choose an alignment. Also not being a mono spaced font, I can't do each line by characters and just put spaces on the front of each line.

New Version

 

Changes:

- Added setting to be able to limit the amount of threats displayed in a picture report

- Added option to enable Bogey Dopes

--- Mission designer can turn on / off in script settings

--- Pilots can request thru the F10 menu and it will show the BRA to the nearest hostile aircraft that has been detected. It will always reference the requesting pilot's own aircraft.

- Finally implemented a cleaner workaround for some ground units being detected and listed in picture report

I am plannig an attack to the north with Mig21 and Su25... I would like to have an EWR with ships, I mean, Russian fleet is quite close to the coast and I want the Moskva russian frigate to work like EWR. Also, you can add an american frigate just in case.

 

Can you do this please?? I tried to include the Moskva myself but I dont know what name to put.

 

This can give a a very interesting scenary in the north of caucasus (around Crimea) like Falklands.

I'll try get it done in the next day or two. Gives me a reason to finally test if detection with ships works properly.

 

EDIT: Which of the ships have radar? I know absolutely nothing about ships. I'll have to start googling after work otherwise.

Hello, after testing the script I would suggest that the EWR can picture friendly aircrafts if requested.

 

Also... and this is a dream I have... would it be possible to make another script for ground units.

 

It should send you a message when ground friendly units detects any enemy group, and I mean group, not unit (units would be crazy).

 

It could give you a rough idea about the enemysituation

 

For instance, there can be two types of enemy groups, group with or without tanks, and location from a Bullseye, but only if in LOS of ground friendly units.

 

would it be difficult??

The friendly aircraft picture will be pretty easy. The only thing is that it will not rely on friendly radar detection because in DCS, a side's radars don't actually 'detect' that side's units, so it will just be a matter of pulling each player's position.

 

As for the detection with ground units, pretty cool idea. There is a function that can get the average position of all units in a group - could work fairly well.

 

RL has be busy as hell recently, and preventing me from spending much time on my computer, but when I get a chance I'll add in the friendly aircraft picture, thats a simple one, then I'll see what I can come up with for the ground units.

that would be a hell of script for Helicopters and CAS flights... Even for CA... the Combined Arms, when there are more than one conflict point is extremely difficult to control everything... you can be eliminated in an ambush easyly. WIth this, using LOS, you will be aware of what is going on!! WIth a proper bullseye information you can bomb "areas" where you were told there are anemies... more realistic.

We've been using your script and genuinely it's feature complete as far as we are concerned, but if you were thinking of ideas I had a couple to extend it...

 

1) Bogey Dope threshold range. Inside this range (selectable) the script starts spouting Bogey dopes at you.

2) Outside of threshold some attempt at a Picture. Now thats a bit of a coding nightmare but might be a challenge you like! You could simplify the picture to X number of groups and nearest group by either bulls or BRAA

3) Snaps to flight lead. An optional for those that don't play with radar, but handy.

- Mission designer chooses if this feature is active or not and how many aircraft are shown.

I've left this change outside of the main branch for now. I've tested what I could in single player, but just haven't had a chance to test it in multiplayer. Anyone that uses it, could they please give feedback on any errors etc.

PS: the C4ISR Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, for ground units... need to be a thing. I would love to know how to program to do smething like this... for ground units, as mentioned to you before. i will think how to make the approach and what information we can get through F10. I know the Mist funcitons, I just dont know the grammar to write .lua !!!

I'm trying to make a complex mission but I'm figuring how to launch some planes to intercept after a radar contact.. For what I see, with the vanilla scripts this isn't possible.. This script allow that? Sorry if it's a dumb question..but I'm new on the mission editor..

The only dumb question is one that's not asked in my books.

 

All this script does is provide a text based BRA reference to friendly clients for any hostile aircraft detected by radar. It doesn't have the functionality you're after. Sorry mate.
