JTAC - issue with laser OFF when last bomb leaves the pylon.

Hi

Am I doing it wrong or is it the JTAC logic issue?

Group 1 (AAA): Unit 1 – ZSU23-Ural, Unit 2 – ZSU23-URAL. Stationary, 300 feet apart.

JTAC is set to FAC group1, laser. I have (Hornet) 2x GBU16.

1. JTAC check in, I am at IP 10nmi from target AO.

2. JTAC responds with Type 2.

3. 9 Line

4. I am IP INBOUND

5. Calling LASER – JTAC says LASER ON, I call SPOT, then I call IN, JTAC responds CLEARED HOT

6. Dropping single GBU 16. Target destroyed. JTAC says one unit destroyed re-attack authorised. So far so good.

7. I am IP INBOUND

8. Calling LASER – JTAC says LASER ON, I call SPOT, then I call IN, JTAC responds CLEARED HOT....

... as soon as I pickle second and last GBU, JTAC stops lasing and says ABORT. Why? Simple, he knows I have got no more bombs to support this attack so JTAC stops lasing. He does not care a bomb is actually in the air already. I am missing the target obviously.

If I take 4 same bombs all is good, but abort and the above laser off will happen every time JTAC detects I dropped the last bomb.

To me, even the fact that JTAC knows how many bombs I have got at any given time is wrong.

Further testing proved that, if I set WEAPON in FAC - Assign Group task to GUIDED I will get the results from my first post.

If I leave it at the default AUTO, JTAC unit will keep lasing when I drop my last bomb - as long as I have got anything else to shoot the target with.
