F-16 MFD Readability

Agree! Those MFD's are far to dim and dull, and not only

in VR.

The brightness and contrast buttons have no effect.

The MFDs look much better in the TWS video from yesterday.

Agreed. I posted a slightly snarky comment on the YouTube comments for the trailer. I said what good is TWS when you can't see the contacts because the MFDs are so dark. Then I asked if they could add the EXP option in the FCR. Wags replied and said YES, the EXP addition will be in this update as well.

While that doesn't fix the MFDs, it does mean we can EXPand the view, or zoom in if you will to separate overlapping contacts.

Well done Wags.

But doesn't the MFD symbology look brighter in the video vs what we have in the game right now? It does to me, at least. Seems to me like they upped the brightness. We'll see on the 27th, of course.

Yes, that was my first thought too. But it could be because i fly only in VR? We will see.

Didn't notice this right away, but it's true. The blue items are a lot clearer and the fonts are a tad thinner which makes them easier to read.

I kept the videos in that small box so it show better, how much impact this will have in "low res environments" like a Rift.

Considering the level of zoom and good amount of shade apparent its hard to say what level of improvement there might be.

Great idea Eldur with the comparison. Looking at that side by side, I think the only thing that's changed is the capture resolution Wags used on the new videos, and as said above, zoom and shade. We shall see. I've been assured its on their radar and "acknowledged". What that means or when the brightness and contrast functions get implemented is yet to be seen. Hopefully sooner than later so the multitudes with difficulty reading the MFD's, can enjoy the jet the way it was supposed to be. Till then, it might be time to revisit my warbirds and look forward to VFAT :D

The improved readability was the first thing I noticed in the video, because it is so much better than what I experience on my side (without VR!). Really looking forward to that!

Same here. I think it's the same as before. i believe that Wags had a later build than the one we got, because my RWR sounds remained the same, while his RWR had updated sounds.

Still can't read them. Can't tell the difference between a bugged target and another. Or a system track or the other. Just blobs and very dim. gonna have a play with gfx settings. I do not have issues with anything else bar maybe reading the hornet altitude on the TDC cursor. I think this is definitely compounded by VR... ie displaying blue versus green is a real issue for HMD's. But I could do with some compensation for that in contrast in my CV1.

+1 Still can't read them. In fact, with the extra symbology for TWS and Link16 it's much worse. I may just have to turn Link16 off completely.......

I believe the difference between the Video from Wags and what we're seeing is the time of day he took the video and the placement of the sun in relation to the cockpit. If the sun is behind you, the MFD's are legible but by no means easy to read. I believe he has the sun behind him and he is zoomed in some amount. This would make them look like they do in the Video.

I have a mod, I just thought I wouldn't need it anymore . It's just that Wags had updated sounds and even confirmed it in a comment, on the TWS YouTube video. But thanks!

I saw that comment as well and left the Tyrant mod off. When I fired up the RWR I was greeted with the annoying F-18 tones.

I have further modded Tyrant's RWR sounds with the sounds from another Viper sim..... It sounds lovely lol.

Placing the sun at your back and zooming in can get the same effect.
