Q1E Development Update

I think one F14 pilot on this site said that much of what those guys said in the podcast was not particularly reliable, and he doubted how much time any of them had on Tomcats. Which doesnt make them wrong, but it does suggest its not gospel either.

If people are suggesting options, can we have, in addition to the boring Jester, can we have Jester on Speed? You know, just for comedy effect? :)

There is nothing “grey zone” about any of the modules in DCS, they are all made with open source/unclassified stuff. There is no open source stuff on specifics regarding EW of the f-18C or the 16 or the 15 or the flanker or even lotsa stuff going back to Vietnam. There are general theories and ideas, but not specifics.

The whole probabilistic thing, while it could lead to moderately realistic results when you look at say 200 engagements statistically, will lead to unrealistic and exploitable gameplay. Just look at how chaff and flares simplified mechanics in DCS are completely divorced from how they work in the real world, leading to both over and under effectiveness on many systems and radars.

The other problem is unless it affects the radar screen and player decisions what’s the gameplay purpose?

other than just reducing missile pk just like chaff does right now.

Thats not true.

Listen to DCS episode of the Fighter Pilot Podcast. Wags himselft sayed that. That's actually a quote.

Gameplay purpose:

Chaff corridor

SOJ and SIJ (Stand of-, Stand in-Jamming)

Escort jamming

At least for older sytems.

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately, due to a critically ill close family member, I've had to pack down and hit the road to, hopefully, assist in recovery.

This unfortunately means that the planned Forrestal update hasn't gone out yet and will be delayed.

Development will be slightly slowed on some features for the nearest (2w~) future, as my contributions to these development items will be significantly reduced. The team will however continue to make good progress on all unaffected fronts.

Apologies for the late notice; this situation came on with some urgency late last week. Thanks for your understanding and support!

My condolences. I had to do the same last month. Hopefully you’ll have a better outcome than me.

No need to apologise. As stated before by others, family always comes first.

You guys do an incredible job! Just yesterday I went through the cold start routine of the F14B for the first time since a while ago and was again amazed by the level of detail and love you guys put in there! You don't hear that nearly often enough. Same goes for the ED crew obviously!

Keep up the spirits and good work!

All the best from locked-down Frankfurt, Germany.
