VR 3D needs 2D

Dear Eagle Dynamics

Thanks for grabbing opportunity to make the best combat simulator the world ever have seen…

I hope some day it will turn out to bee a mixture of FP ground force sim and flight sim all together. I hope your dream is the same as mine… it’s a long road but keep up!

...but until then…

I’m a 100% VR user when I’m flying. VR are good for 3D but it suck big time for 2D work. I would even say it’s useless for 2D work. 2D flat screen is so much better at presenting 2D.

Why not load the main sim interface in “normal” 2D for config, module management, mission editor, selecting mission/campaign, multi player, mission planner and load screen etc. When all is loaded and ready to go presents a dialog with a go button… best of two worlds.

It annoys me big time every time I startup the sim… VR all the way or nothing!

I have other things on my mind but I’ll create a new post for that.

Best regards and I hope you all are well

Moric

I know that and you can use "--force_disable_VR" but it's not the point.

Did you read the section:

That way you can use 2D for what 2D is good at and setup mission plans, joining MP servers etc. in 2D using keyboard and mouse without constantly move your HMD to see your keyboard

Yes , actually i did read that section . But i don't think that what you are asking for is possible , due to for example how Oculus runtime works . Sorry for trying to help-it won't happen again .

I believe it was stated that Oculus had a requirement that in VR mode everything including menus be in VR

If I appear rude. I apologize. That wasn't my intention. English is not my main language :)

About VR runtime libs. You can run a normal 3D program (dx/opengl/vulkan) and call the VR runtime lib and setup your scene, context etc. later. The race sim "Assetto Corsa" does it that way and other.
