wrong tire physics and dynamics.

 

if with an airplane rollers off a runway in the grass the plane stops.

the reality is completely different su-25 taking off from a budding runway demonstration.

It very much all depends on the aircraft and the grass/soil

 

From personal experience I can tell you, that the F-16 doesn't do well on grass

 

 

 

At some point, back when I was still working for the RNLAF, we were towing one of our F-16's (I was sitting on the back of the tow truck facing the aircraft), when suddenly our tow truck driver had turn onto a nearby ramp when some F-16's where taxiing towards us. He made a slightly wrong judgement call and one of the wheels went off the tarmac and onto the grass. Within 1 meter, that wheel "sunk" about 50cm into the ground and we were totally stuck. (the F-16's taxiing towards us even had to abort their mission as they couldn't pass and it resulted in the RNLAF adjust their towing procedures)

it also depends on the type of tire and the shock absorbers

Sounds like a can of worms to me . Soil composition , tire footprint , aircraft weight , raining "now" or yesterday , etc . Imagine the additional cpu load , when cpu's are already bottlenecking . No thanks .

1) show us some Nato planes on the same surface from the pictures with russian planes.

 

2) there are already some threads with the same topic. Might wanna read them.

 

3) You can roll on grass in DCS. It depends on your weight.

I don't want to show you anything. But I want you to observe. Most of the Nato planes land on hardened terrain. Have you realized that after searching for those videos?

is in fact and this is difficult to find these videos, but the fact remains that it is not normal that simple grass can completely stop the taxiing of an S-25 the wheels are too big.

I wish DCS would just make him walk on the grass with a little friction but see a plane that stops completely on the grass and ridicule the wheel and it's not realistic.

I'm just asking you a very simple thing not to get a su-25 or su-25t to get stuck on the grass.

 

such large wheels cannot be stopped by simple grass on the ground and truly unrealistic and ridiculous.

It has been demonstrated repeatedly already being able to take off and land in fields in DCS. If you came to a complete stop, and couldn't move, you were probably overweight for the area you drove into. They've already said they have different surface types, although relatively simplified.

 

#1 The determinant if you can do this is weight. If you have a full fuel load and/or weapons you're not going to do that without sinking. If you are loaded light, you can do it no problem. Ground pressure is the issue, pounds per square inch of surface area. As you can imagine, a tricycle fighter jet has very high ground pressure.

 

#2 there is a difference between a prepared improvised landing strip and ''a random field'' even if at a glance they might look similar. Know what the difference is? A ''random field'' is unlikely to be level, and will definitely have random potholes and bumps. I don't care how powerful Socialist glory is, even a Russian plane will be wrecked if it hits a chug hole at 200mph.

 

#3 I can show you videos of mighty Stalin glory planes getting stuck in the grass, too, I remember distinctly one with a MiG-23.

 

#4 Fact : combat aircraft are supposed to be using runways, whether paved or not it's still prepared. You will NOT use a random ditch to take off in and expecting to be able to is stupid. Also, you cannot expect to run off the taxiway with 10,000lbs of ordnance and not get stuck. Stay on the taxiway, that's what it's there for. If you could routinely use grass/dirt they wouldn't bother with the expense of paving all this stuff. The grounds alongside taxiways are not prepared for bearing aircraft. They have a taxiway there, there's no reason for a plane to go off it except incompetence. Doing so in real life would get your wings pulled, not ''demonstrate Soviet offroad capabilities''.
