Dear friends,

Master Arms celebrates one year on October 3. Much has happened since the community opened and this is a short summary.

HISTORY:

As the flight simulator geek I am, I found NOSIG in 2004. Later that year, Justin Case joined and we have been there ever since. But activity in NOSIG was very low and I thought that it focused on the wrong things. In October 2011, I felt that something needed to be done. I then contacted Oden and dk, and then asked if they wanted to be with and start a new flight community with a focus on combat aircraft simulators and multiplayer gaming. Both were interested and we went on to work on a plan, discuss and decide how we should proceed.

We came up with a concept that we liked. A forum focusing on only a few flight sims. Not ask lots of demands for participation and so on. That it should be fun to play. Not to be over serious but not frivolous. A moderate level!

Another important thing we came up with is recruitment. We will recruit and promote Master Arms over time so that we constantly must not fresh blood.

PRESENT:

We fly a lot in DCS: World and Falcon BMS Update 3 and a few run IL-2 Cliffs of Dover.

The DCS is mostly A-10c Warthog. In the near future, Flaming Cliffs 3 will be released. FC3 will be compatible with DCS: World and I think this will be a big boost for the series. Even though it is not "advanced flight model", it will enable a completely different mission types. Missions where you might need to have a complete package to perform a task. Strike, Escort, Sead escort. Maybe have a few humans who hunt the enemy, thus making it more challenging for A10s and escort. It remains to be seen.

Falcon has recently been dominated by flying at Red Flag. For those who do not know, Red Flag is a PVP campaign hosted by Team Archer. More recently, they have the server to function very stable and there are people inside and fly almost constantly. It's so much fun to fly when you know that the plan you meet may be humans. It requires a lot more planning and cooperation for the success of his mission. Right now further developed Battle for Sinai is a different type of PVP campaign hosted by Team Archer. I have not flown it but looking forward to join when it starts.

Tally-ho Thursday has proceeded continuously, with only a few missed weeks. It has been mostly DCS dominated but now even the Falcon to land again.

Agaton has been a steady mission maker for DCS. We have flown his mission several times, often come with feedback on things which he then updated the next flight. Very well done Agaton! Hereby I nominate Agaton to member of the month! A thread that has been forgotten (on the MA forums)

Another nice feature in Tally-ho Thursdays was when Eckesicle held a training session in BVR tactics. We want more of these things! Anyone who feels good at something, host a training session!

"Missing in action" - We are missing quite a few members who have disappeared without a trace! Are you still alive? Please write a post and tell us your status and living situation so we do not have to be concerned about. But above all - came back and flight with us! You are always welcome!

FUTURE:

What will the future of Master Arms look like?

My vision is mostly fulfilled. One thing I wish is that we will attract more people. We need driven, talented members. A member that we have today might some day get other interests or be forced to prioritize differently in their lives. Therefore, we must proactively work to Master Arms will not be watered which is a concern for the future.

I think we have a very good atmosphere and camaraderie and I think we will continue to have it. We are a good team and I think that people from outside also think. Please come with feedback on how you think things work. Personally, I think forums and TS works very well! Then we lack TARS's a different story.

The future of the DCS and Falcon looks fairly bright. In DCS, we are waiting for the promised new aircraft, and Falcon BMS gets better and better by the day! Likewise PvP servers.

A few points:

Recruitment - This is a very important aspect that we need to get better at. Justin Case is recruitment manager but the responsibility is on us to market ourselves out and attract flight-hungry people. Get your signatures and links sorted, talk to people and invite them, write posts in forums, put advertising stickers on your cars .. etc. We should also try get our old veterans back.

Tournaments q43 something I want to pick up again and it should apply to both Falcon and DCS. Preferably a smart game-play system with scoring! Develop "Dog Fight # 1" and let's run it again!

Use your own initiative ! Have spontaneous Flights! Organize competitions and tournaments! Write guides. Write funny posts. Write SOPs. Grilling. Meet. Organise LAN or hang on TS and chat.

Finally, I would just say that Tally-ho Thursday V.40 (on 4 Oct), it becomes something different. Then, it is the birthday party for MASTER ARMS!

Over and out

I would like to encourage all Swedes, and others, on this forum to become members of masterarms! You can find us at http://www.masterarms.se

We are Swedish-speaking, and we fly mostly in Swedish.

There will always be bugs. If everything is a priority nothing is.
