Deadman's A-10 C Cockpit Build

I believe I purchased the same set of tft displays as Kuky. They dont draw much power so I was able to run to a local electronics store and pickup some power supplies for $15 each.

Yup, the one's I have draw 10W, they came with transformer and I think they were about US$95 each. I also think if you by larger quantities they are even a tad cheaper

these are 110 just for the monitor so a bit more and $35 for the board so I am looking at some where around $300. I need to just break down and sell some stuff on eBay that i have collect that is for the F-16 we will see or i could just get a job :megalol:

Thanks again for the help now i am just going to have to find a something small for the rwr indicator and a 10 line display for the CDU hopefully usb and displays are taken care of

Speaking of CDU displays, here's how mine is coming along :)

This does not require any connection to PC, it's driven from the microcontroller which also talks and listens via ethernet. Reeeeaally hope ED provides the CDU lines as text so I can do it this way. Sorry the pictures are lousy.

The pics are fine what size screen did you use it looks great!! The CDU is a 10 line isn't it? I have not even looked at it to sketch it yet

Yes 10 line. It's 3.5" the real one is 4 but those are impossible to find and it still looks good in the panel. It looks a lot sharper in RL those pictures don't do it justice, resolution is 320x240.

I believe you I all most have the main Instrument panel (dash ) finished then I will work on the structural part of the pit And the n the main thing I know noting about the wiring ahhh but now that the beta is out thing will start to flow. There is some thing to work with . I can believe there are so few building a pit though

I am working on the buttons finally after rebuilding the MFCD Bezels any one have any idea how much gap to leave for paint primer and finish on the bezel and button? You can see there is only 0.0125 gap between unpainted parts now thanks:thumbup:

deciding to go with a pivot under the rocker switch or a flange i am not shure what i will do

so deadman,..one question how will you realize the buttons? i mean have you some drilling feature to make the top of the buttons your own? or do you have such a laser machine to build things from dust?) hope you know what i mean with it..as it is late for me here, i don t know how to explain that preocedure better..

There has been very little to no interest express in buying Items from my designs so there is no reason to spend several thousand dollars on a cnc table or even more on a laser.I will just contract a local sign maker that has a cnc router table to cut out my buttons then i will paint them. For the MFCD Bezel I may have him cut out of casting wax then make a mold and cast more wax then lost wax cast them out of aluminum then cut out the holes for the buttons. and touch up the inside area for the PCB on the cnc router.Or it may be cheaper jut to cut both out of aluminum stock. If i can find and electrical engineer to design a usb set up for the buttons and the rotary switch, I am good to go.

Did a little work Buttons are done along with the EL sheet lay out and PCB. There are no engraving TLAs on the rocker switches because a plug in was not working and i got tired of messing with it they will geyt put in to what ever program i need to get them done later.

I may design the firmware to create usb game controllers for UFC, CDU, and MFD based on a Microchip controller. Its not terribly hard. Biggest problem I can see is figuring out a hardware design thin enough to fit in the bezels. That would probably require surface mount compontents on a custom PCB which I dont really have the capability of making myself. I could build a thru-hole version but probably would be too thick to fit inside.

I was thinking of just having it built in to the pcd that will have the switches on it. The bezels in my design are about .5 inch thick so there should be plenty of room. I am just not a pcb designer lol

Did a bit of a rework on the rockers and the inside profile of the Bezel. I think this is the final draft on this. What do you guys think?

nice design, it looks really accurate. Did you fit it to the edge of your screen with that small bevel?

I should be able to get it cut to mach the 3d model, The bevel did not change the placement of the perpendicular wall witch was layed out to just the viewable edge of the screen. The small foot at the bottom of the wall comes in to the frame just a hair to try and copy what the bezel looks like in this pic.I would rather loose one or two pixels of the screen than have a 3 mm gap on one side of the screen.

If you look at the left hands side bezel lower right corner.

I would like to make the printed circuit board(PCB) with two hook ups one USB so as soon as its made i can plug it in and work with it and another by pass hook up to go in to a IO card solution for the entire switch and light set up for the pit.

HI Guys well it has been quite a wile I have picked up a few new parts and been away on a business trip. Now I am back and hopefully I will have some time to do some more planing on the pit:thumbup:
