Nikola, do you know another thing that is unrealistic?

Not being able to feel your fingers to tell what position the switches are in.

... or feel the in-cockpit throttles to reach behind them and feel for the dials and switches...

yeah, that will be the day when we get realistic haptic/tactile feedback. DCS will close their doors in bankruptcy and Pornhub will become the de facto world government :D

My point wasnt that you cant find the dials and switches, it was that you cant tell what position they are in. You cant tell whether the strobe is brt or dim without moving the throttles forward, same goes for the position lights dial unless you have a very good trackIR setup.

Imagine how sweet it would be if it could be mapped to a button on the keyboard or even better, a button on the mouse if you have enough of them so you could spare one. That way you would not even have to tap the keyboard before and after, you would just use the mouse all the time.

Now I gave a Cougar MFD dedicated just to these buttons and knobs that I cant see because of the throttle.

Doesn't that screenshot also show that you can only see the strobe switch with the throttle in a particular position?

I do not have a problem. I supplied an evidence that you can see switches behind throttle levers even with mouse view, hence rendering your argument invalid.
But I have the same problem as Swiftwin9s so I guess that renders your argument invalid then?

Or is your view settings the standard that the rest of us should follow?

... It is no different than being able to hide the joystick which we already have...

I use default view settings. Don't know what are you talking about.

You use the default view settings, therefore you think everyone else should do so also.

That is what Im talking about.

Not adapt them to their setup, distance to monitor, preference and so on.

You decide what is right. Period.

You are talking about it being unrealistic to hide the throttles, and that everyone should lean forward and move around instead because you for some reason think that a keybind for hiding the throttles would be a very bad thing.

You should in that case know that another thing that is unrealistic is how you can lean and move in the cockpit with TrackIR if you dont change the limits in the settings for it. I have changed this because I find it very unrealistic to be able to lean forward and down and basicly put my head at the level of the center MFD and then turn it back see the formation light knob when I have the throttle at about MIL. Or look at it under the throttle, using the TrackIR for putting my head at my left elbows height. In reality I could not move my body in that way even sitting in a chair in my livingroom, if I was sitting in a real aircraft under G-load with my harnessreel locked It would be even harder.

This is a wish list thread, it would be interesting to know why it is important to you that it is not implemented as a feature. Why do you even bother to try and stop it? Are you afraid that it would delay implementation of Vulcan or dynamic campaign by a year or something? Everyone except you in this thread want it, would a keybind for it really make your DCS experience that much worse that you cant let the rest of us have it? Its a humble wish that is not a massive undertaking for ED to make a reality.

I don't want to lean forward to reach stuff that I in reality would not need to reach for because I would not need to see it to use it. Because that is unrealistic to me.

The wierdest thing about this is that you have not started a own tread trying to get ED to remove the ability to remove the control stick since that also is unrealistic.

Why haven't you done that? That feature already exist so it is already spoiling your realism.

You are exaggerating the movement needed to see that switch.

I think you will find he is not exaggerating it, with my setup I cannot move my head in any way to see that switch. Currently I am having to snap the throttles to full and back again to see it. Now I don't know about you but that seems more unrealistic than having the ability to 'feel' (read see with hands) the switch.

You are exaggerating the movement needed to see that switch. Have you even tried it yourself? All you need to do is to translate head slightly forward, and rotate it slightly to the left.

Why do I write in this thread?

Because this is forum:

forum

/ˈfɔːrəm/

noun: forum; plural noun: forums; plural noun: fora

1.

-a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

"we hope these pages act as a forum for debate"

-a website or web page where users can post comments about a particular issue or topic and reply to other users' postings.

I believe I have right to voice my opinion, you like it or not. It's up to developers to decide whether they are going to implement it.

Of course I have tried, this has been a issue for me all my time in the Hornet. My problem in not when the throttle is in the idle position as in your screenshot by the way but when its more forward.

And of course you have the right to voice your opinion. If you should use that right in all situations is another matter.

I dont fly any WW II aircraft, I have the right to enter any WW II thread and say that I think all WW II development should cease because it doesnt benefit me.

I dont do it though, of concern for others.

Stick shouldn't be able to be hidden if not throttle as well.....

Yes, we need to be able click the throttle base, and stick base, and get them hidden.

I don't now remember that what module developers invented that click area but it is amazing....

Same thing is that you click three times ejection seat handles and you are ejected. Amazing features in VR and using hands tracking...

Say no to mouse, as those are unrealistic things!

Just the throttle and stick would be fine.

Actually I dont need to hide the stick as bad as the throttle but it doesnt hurt me that someone else can do it if they want to.

I dont see why it would be a requirement to be able to hide everything that obscures something if it would be possible to hide the throttle. If 15 things are obscured and hiding the throttle would solve 10 I dont see the logic to why the last 5 also would need to be fixed for the wish to be valid. It would mean less keyboard combos to memorize and so on.

But yes, hiding the throttle would be very welcome in all clickable aircraft, even the ones I dont have myself.

Should I request ED to made some cockpit geometry "hide-able" (is that a word?) in every module?

The stick is able to be hidden in every module ...
