Another post about cockpit knobs

Hi All,

I’m trying to find somewhere online that details the dimensions of the knobs used in the F-16/F-18 hit am not having any luck.

I recently bought a 3-D printer and I’ve spent the last day or two designing and printing knobs for my cockpit but as far as I can tell, they are the wrong dimensions to what they should be.

I guess it doesn’t really matter, but the pedantic side of me is screaming for the right measurements :)

Failing that, if anyone knows anywhere online where the knobs can be bought, please let me know

Cheers

@obious there are a couple in brun’s fa18 ufc. Not certain if they’re correctly sized though.

Neither am I :)

you need to purchase the knobs from a distributor. They rarely have the back lit gray knob for aircraft and if they do the knob are $30 and up last time i checked several years ago. I have A-10-C and a few F-16 items all based on real knobs. if you are looking for some thing else let me know and I can add it to the site. https://www.shapeways.com/shops/a-10c-warthog-supplies

CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

If you could make the three F-18C lighting knobs available in 1/8” shaft, that would make life easy

You have 3 knobs on your site that I printed before with 1/4 shafts, then I found some better quality potentiometers that have 1/8” round shafts.

Your knobs are listed as 8502, TT158, and TT151.

Two of the knobs appear to be either EHC TS or TL series. I have not found an original source for the specific knob you have asked about.

I can remake those two knobs wit 1/8 inch shafts no problem. TT155 all ready has a .125 inch (1/8) shaft hole.

Thanks, Deadman. Happy holidays.

For the OP, search for Brun’s UFC he also has a set of 3D printed knobs that are useful where smaller knobs are required. Dust off those childhood modeling skills for painting them all up.

You can buy from an EHC distributor but they are salty $ and with a bit of tape, Testors paint and patience you can make them look as nice or as worn as you fancy.
