How about a DCS AC130 gunship module ?

Hi LN,

This idea have just come through my mind after watching a Vietnam war documentary.

I think this module is really feasible, can be done. Information around the AC130 is not so hard to collect.

Developers dont need to worry about multicrew aspect, player just need to set autopilot for the plane to circle around target, then jump to gunner position to use artillery, minigun to deal with targets. It also has night operation (like convoy hunting in Ho Chi Minh trail Vietnam war, or support advancing ground troop).

There are many fighter, helicopter modules out there, so I think a flying truck with artillery would be so much interesting.

just modelling a C-130 would be the starting point....but it will not get any love from me unless it is a super high fidelity "DCS" module....just spawning in and looking through a gun camera can be done in Call of Duty:MW2....and if its going to be like that I would rather see the dogs from Call of Duty:World at War modeled into DCS....perhaps set it up so after a 5 kill streak they spawn in at a random enemy airfield and just start digging into all the trash cans and pissing all over everything, maybe even shitting on the tarmac.

We simulate one in our Tactical Training Qualification Campaign so hopefully someone will actually add one soon! :thumbup:

maybe we need multi-player module in order to have enough gunner.

and experience of multi-player should be improved.

Of course Im talking about an AC130 with full features at DCS level, and can do various role like CAS with JTAC, drop paratroopers, airlift, even deliver nuke ...

It would be cool to see a AC-130 but as much as I love that aircraft, I would rather they fill out the interceptor, air-superiority and other fighter aircraft roles a bit more. We have plenty of ground attack/CAS platforms now but still have massive gaps in other roles.

Haha, I meant AC for attack, C for the rest. In Vietnam war USAF dropped Blu 82 daisy cutter to create LZ for UH1, some sources said one or two companies of North Vietnamese People Army have been wiped out clearly using these bombs (LN developed nuke for MiG21 having the same effect)

I think it would be awesome to have, especially with different players in the positions. You could have a night mission where the F-18 pilots kill the Anti Air missiles, and send in Ka-50 and AC-130 to destroy everything ))

I'd much prefer a B-52H myself with different players in the positions, and a tail gunner for added bonus.

Nah , i personally don't think it would be a good use of development time. Not for a DCS : AC130 anyway.

I wish someone would make C-130 and some Russian cargo plane too. Make the price lower than combat planes as it could then attract civil plane simmers to DCSworld. As they could like to fly cargo from airfield A to B, enjoy being escorted by fighters. Maybe do a quick drops without landing etc.

One day if we have paratroopers and we can command squads and platoons well in CA (not as individual soldiers if not zoomed very close, but as groups) it would make very interesting to fly cargo plane behind enemy lines to drop troops there and then get away.

I would think the DCS wishlist thread in the main room would be the best solution. I'm not against new planes but the small team from LN is for sure really busy in reading comments and bug reports for their MiG-21 baby :music_whistling:

Because the B52H is one of the current nuclear bombers for the united states this is probably impossible to get access to. But a multi-crew bomber is much needed to balance out all the single seat fighters, a B1-B would be great.
