Thanks for these. Have had my throttle about a month and now looking at add the detents. PLA should be fine or should I do ABS? Probably print this weekend.

Just printed these. Love the design. Haven't sanded yet but noticed right off the bat the shaft on the left (smaller) finger lift appears to be a couple mm thicker than the right (larger). The right slides right into to the frame but the left won't so will definitely need to be shimmed some. Was this a deliberate adjustment or just the way it came out?

Then need to pick up a couple springs and hopefully have it installed tonight.

A spring assortment and a couple M4 screws from Home Depot and all came together nice. This is legit. Gets to 71% on both throttles before I need to engage the lifts which then takes it to 100..

Hi Uxi. Glad it's working for you.

The left and right finger lift shafts should be identical in size. I'm not sure why yours came out that different??? A couple of mm is quite a lot. Did you accidentally change scale on one of them? Don't know what to say tbh.

I've only used PLA myself, but it seems to be plenty strong enough. I guess only long term use will tell for sure. The worst case scenario is we just quickly print a replacement part up.

Definitely a bit larger though I didn't measure so may be exaggerated. It was well beyond sanding though, had to use the attachment on my dremel to make it work. It is still kinda binding towards the top but probably not bad enough that I need to take it off, though that should be easy enough if it proves more frustrating later. Possibly my slicer (Cura).

Very strange. I printed it all together on one gcode... wonder if the printer did it. Almost tempted to print again on a different area of the build plate. I even tried to swap the lifts into the different frames. I discounted it being one of the frames since they were the same one only opened twice onto the same build.

This was a very easy print. I'm almost out of black filament or I'd probably offer to print it for you. Getting the printer is the way to go! So much cool stuff you can print. I already printed a couple MFD frames (available on Shapeways) but in VR not sure I would need them.

Hi bentpickle, thanks for that. $85 is a ripoff! Getting your own printer is definitely the way to go. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it. :)

If you're in Australia then Bunnings sells a box of assorted sizes, which is what I used. Elsewhere, it's just a matter of searching local stores I'm afraid.

Sneaky,

I've wanted a Virpil throttle for a while, but couldn't imagine life without a detent. Virpil should be throwing you some kickbacks as you are the reason they sold this guy one. This is such a clever design. I found this 200 pcs spring kit on Amazon for ~10$ for anyone looking for springs. It has about 5-6 sets of the exact spring you show in your photo.

What size screws did you use to hold the assembly together?

Well done Bentpickle! Those prints are looking good.

And thanks for the kind words :)

I can't remember the screws I used. Something like 6G X 15mm perhaps? Whatever bites nicely into the plastic will do just fine.

That's the main reason I didn't put threaded holes in the design - I figured it was better to let people drill pilot holes to suit whatever screws they had on hand.

Edit: I just noticed you are still awaiting your throttle. So you're getting the new design then? I think yours will be the one with extra throttle travel. Please let me know how this goes for fit and function. :)

Sneaky, these are brilliant, the Mil power/ AB location is just right. How many prototypes did that take to get the thickness right? I modified the finger profiles a bit. Here's how they look:

Thanks Bentpickle. I like your changes. :)

I prototyped the detents in lego, and believe it or not, the parts fit almost perfectly and happened to give me just the right feeling for MIL/AB position. So I just measured those and got to where I am now after only a print or two. Dumb luck more than anything!

Can you share your print file, I like your design and I want to order it online.
