Eldur
Did you delete the fxo and metashader2 files? That's the first part of my "now please patch my DCS" cmd, but who knows that if I don't tell it in every problem report? And if I run into having less fps than usual or stutter, I do it manually as well, so I tried that already BTW yesterday I had driver things crash for the first time in the background due to OOM. With 32 Gigs of RAM and no background programs running thich eat tons of mem like a browser with a gazillion of tabs open... there's definately some new culprit with DCS performance since the latest update. Don’t know what OOM is, sorry. I am pretty good about double checking that drivers are up to date, any windows updates are complete, firmware for peripherals, yada yada yada.. Bummer you’re experiencing issues, haven’t noticed any dip on my side, as advertised if anything, an improvement steadily. I run Oculus program, Discord and DCS (while flying). That’s it. Eldur
Out Of Memory ? Exactly. Well, I'll update my GF drivers again, but eventually I guess I need to up to Win 10 as well. Oculus will stop working on 7 in Jan. In the end I'll need a new CPU, mobo, RAM etc anyway.
Donut
Yep, noticed a significant drop in FPS here too after latest updates. Depending on which aircraft, I am seeing 20-30 less FPS now, nothing changed on my end...and yes, I delete the fxo and metashader folders. i5 7600K @4.8GHz | 1080 Ti | 32GB 3200MHz | SSD | DCS SETTINGS | "COCKPIT"
terminator345
My game is stuttering now after the latest update. Using fraps fps is showing about 30-50fps, but feels like 5-10fps. Never had this issue before. Running the open beta version. Edited November 3, 2019 by terminator345
Gizzy
Confirmed. It's a mess! Ziptie
Mine just started getting a little unacceptable today, then I updated the Nvidia driver and taadaa, back to good to go. Held steady 45 FPS in the GR server with 20+ people in it (with a busy mission environment). Using the Hornet, with CV1. Donut
I have updated the latest Nvidia drivers, cleared fxo and metashader folders...performance does seem a lot worse lately. I normally limit my FPS to 60 with an external frame rate limiter, but for the first time ever in DCS, I have seen FPS drop into the 50's on a busy carrier deck or airfield ramp when flying the Tomcat. I am seeing a significant drop in FPS with the Viper and Hornet as well. Something seems off.... Aluminum Donkey
With the last update 2.5.4.28615 I've notice some lower frame rate, between 15-20 less frames; am I drunk or has anyone had the same problem? I'm usually drunk too and haven't noticed it. If anything, the performance on my end actually seems a bit better now. If anything, you might have turned on MSAA, or increased it to 4x from 2x. It looks nice, but it's a *severe* performance hog. Donut
Having the same issue after the last OB update. considerable drop in FPS and associated stuttering. sigh. Along with the FPS drop, I have noticed the stutters too...1/2 second or so, random as far as I can tell, but frequent enough to be noticed every flight. All graphics card drivers are up to date? Ziptie
Mine achieved a bit of stutter this afternoon, in a brief MP session. It occurred after switching to different player aircraft, via F2. Had to reboot after, but prior to rebooting - noticed there was a driver update available (from 20191004). Updated it, and cleared both standard fxo/metashader2 files - right back to steady 45 FPS - with an occasional jump to 49. Will screenshot my graphics settings tomorrow and post - to see if something in there might help others. Can't imagine that my "little" GTX980 has any performance improvements over some of these "big boy" graphics cards that others have listed. I also have my page filing set to 12 gigs, on each drive, C and E. Not sure if that is helping things on my end, but really don't see any issues on my side and I'm running VR. Weird. Eldur
Was going to check for my F-16 drop tank texture issue and noticed something very nice with the latest patch: My fps are at around 100ish again - and this even is a mission that's not almost empty (which is what I usually do my tests with), in fact this one of the Viper missions, F-16C - Persian Gulf - Dawn Raiders. VR test still pending though. After being down below 30fps, this is almost unbelievable Hooves down one of the best patches in 2019 for me Give that man who did this a beer, he'll have it well deserved! muehlema
Issue for me. My fps go down to 7 to 10 fps, unplayable, as soon as AI spools up the engine. What I was wondering, once the engine sound is out, the fps go back to 40ish. I am wondering if it is sound related. Eventually sound drivers. Eldur
Running 425.31 at the moment after I read a lot of recommendations for that one in a couple of stutter threads just right here. Did try that mission in VR, fps were around 40ish at the base and mostly locked to 45 for the rest of the mission, as I would expect with 90-120 without VR. Even with ASW off (via Oculus Debug Tool), the Rift obviously likes to stay at 45fps, even if it could do up to 60.
Ziptie
Can’t stress enough the improvement that running the oculus debug tool to disable asw makes.... along with the clearing of fxo and metashaders2 folders. I run a “little ole” gtx980 and have preload maxed, textures on high, vis range on high, and disabled shadows (although I do run shadows in single player, not worth any potential trade off in multiplayer personally). Hold a steady 45 all day long in MP.
