jocko417
ARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!! Oh. My. GOD... If I'd only had these UVW layers months ago... Still, for a lot of trial and error I did pretty good, didn't I? Only a couple of major over-compensations in the WAG department (like where the interior wing and tail structure is located), the bare metal colour below the left wing obviously wasn't needed :) I know you probably aren't allowed to release them yet Skate but could you kindly ask BST to let us have the UVWs for the pilot texture, and especially the helmet? It would be much easier to do squadron helmet art if we knew how things were mapped in advance. Thanks again! SkateZilla
I'll see if I cant export them, I got the F86 uvws by sheer dumb luck prolly, and it took hours to convert them all to render the line template. SkateZilla
More F-86F Template work this weekend, -Reducing File Size Some -Further optimizing and sorting of layers. -Further Separation and labeling of small details. -Adding Some Details -Moving some Items to an A.O. Layer. -Possibly re-drawing panel lines/Rivets from scratch as Vector shapes into separate groups (Panel Lines and Rivets) and removing the filtered layers. (Allowing greater control over rivet and panel line color and thickness as well as shading etc) -Possibly advanced weathering layers. (dirt, rust, panel lines etc) Ive also been working on a "Condensed" template, reduced size and layers for those that dont need the extra stuff. On Another Front, I was also able to export UVW Coordinates for the Pilots and Tanks, So I will have PSDs for those soon. I have Basic PSDs done with Diffuse and UVW Overlays but Thats it. Eventually it will all be ONE Pack with all PSDs. SkateZilla
Also, I Might not be able to re-draw panel lines directly this next build as I have to make sure they match the height map as close as possible. I have made a NEWER layer that is darker and preserves as many panel lines and rivets as possible though. But I also found that sub groups cause earlier versions of PhotoShop to have problems. So I'm re-organizing layers. Right now Im trying to separate Base, Base Difference Clouds, and Ambient Occlusion (Dark spots on wing and stab roots, and some other spots.) Making them 3 separate layers. Then to advanced weathering. Also Added Link to First Post for RAR w/ PSDs for Pilot Head, Helmet and Body, these are just Diffuse Maps w/ UVW Overlay Layer Added. SkateZilla
Sorry, some time constraints came up. Working on new Base + Difference Clouds Layers, and then New Layers for Wingroot and nose A.O./Dirt. Advanced weathering is on hold till I redo the panels and rivets. If I re do them completely I will have to re do the default normal/ bump map as well. SkateZilla
Just thought Id give an Update. Right now, Ive been toying with separating Base Grey and Difference Clouds into separate layers, Still experimenting with it, and will get a good method down soon. After that I move Ambient Occlusion to its own layer, more details to its own, and Wing root weathering to its own. Last night I restarted the panel lines and rivets (i've started and delted new panel lines/rivets at least a dozen times, as everytime I tried to match the rivets to the bump map as close as possible and would always run into issues with rivets on top.of each other, path lines and space between rivets changing etc making it way more complicated than needed). Which is why the current Ribet/Panel Layer is still converted from the height map. And for some reason, photoshop will not allow me to realtime scale the stroke patterns on the paths, so I have to stroke, analyze undo, adjust, re stroke. If I can get photoshop to allow me to adjust the brush or pencil properties in realtime, it would solve the issue I have with path tracing. Right now I have the Horizontal stab finished, But I may End up re-doing that again, throwing away the original rivets as some of the lines and spacings are off, causing rivets to be partially on top of each other at corners and intersections. SkateZilla
Small Progress Update on Re-Drawing Panel Lines and Rivets for the F-86F Template. Vertical and Horizontal Stabilizers are done, this weekend I'll start the Fuselage. These will be done in CS6 separately, then ported back to the template. The new panel and rivet layers will also be used to generate advanced weathering. Once the drawing part is done, I will apply some filters and finalize to make lines and rivets look more detailed. Also, When I get time, I'll do a Exported UVW and Layered PSD For the Drop Tanks. SkateZilla
This was from Saturday, however I had some unexpected family things come up, so work stopped shortly afrer it started. The sides of the fuselage and the wings will be quicker as I can duplicate and transfer from left to right etc. for the bottom I can do the same, but theres alot of spaces that have odd/wierd spacing. So Im left deciding if I wanna make the spacing correct and have to re do the bump map or continue making everything match the bump as close as possible. Right now Im choosing the 2nd option, as no one has said anything about rivet lines, so its not something thats noticable unless you're looking for it. jocko417
Thanks for all your hard work SkateZilla. Do you know if an official Belsimtek template is forthcoming, or are you already using BST layers in your templates? New default livery weathering looks fantastic.
