Because it`s badass and a legend here...being one of the main actors in the birth of the newly formed Croatian air force after the breakdown of Yugosolavia..even when MiGs were a wishful dream.
It was used as a silent night bomber equiped with improvised boiler bombs, for medevac and also for ammo, arms and food logistics in the early phase of the conflict.

AN-2 that old plane thats been sitting on the tarmac since Lock-on?

It's about time it gets an upgrade.

I do believe there's one still flying somewhere south America?

I saw one crop dusting in the US and asked them about the import process since the FAA is notoriously unfriendly to Russian aircraft. They told me it was not in the US it's in South America... haha

Cuba with some. But they started to use more Mi-8 lately in exchange. Probably they are not in use like before

As for why, simple... Logistics missions.

A lot of people questioned what the Huey would do in DCS and then the CTLD script came along and it became a serious contender for a lot of people. I'd say the same opportunities exist for this aircraft. There are a lot of scenarios where logistics support could be implemented in missions, and these guys already have everything they need to develop the aircraft in DCS.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a C-27, C-123, C-130, C-141, AN-12 but this one could be the one to open the doors for other developers to bring their talents to DCS. For everybody who doesn't like them, can you say you wouldn't like escorting one on a multiplayer server or hunting them down to prevent the capture of an airfield?
