PSA/Question regarding TOO/PP behavior

So the latest update (2.5.5.38040) seems to have changed the STEP logic slightly with TOO and PP mode for JDAMs and JSOWs, and I'm wondering what the intentional behavior is. I would post this as a bug report, but not knowing if it's an actual bug or not, I'll keep it here. If it ends up being a bug, feel free to move it to the Bug Report section.

First, let's assume the following:

- The MODE selection on the Stores page only affects the single station that is active when the weapon is selected.

- All stations begin in PP mode unless switched manually (currently must be performed through QTY).

- We are using a targeting pod or defined waypoints for TOO designation.

- The selection of PP or TOO mode on the Stores page before target designation is irrelevant for multi-target attacks, as we need to switch between the modes anyway for coordinate storage.

The process: (for this example let's say we only have two JDAMs/JSOWs on two stations)

- Select weapon.

- Arm the EFUZ (because there's nothing worse than setting all this up and releasing paperweights, can't tell you how many times I forgot this step).

- Select the JDAM/JSOW DISPLAY page

- Select QTY and stations (RTN optional, STEP appears to function with the QTY selection open or closed).

- Select the MSN page (technically optional, but it helps to verify the coordinates).

- Switch current station to TOO mode.

- Designate a target.

- Switch first station to PP mode (verify PP1 coordinates match).

- STEP to the next station.

- Next station is in TOO mode (This is behavior in question. As far as we're assuming, all stations should be in PP mode unless switched manually).

- Designate a new target.

- Switch second station to PP mode.

From this point, let's say we want to verify our coordinates for each station, just to make sure we're not going to drop both payloads on the same target.

- STEP back to first station.

- Station is in TOO mode (This is behavior in question. Didn't we switch this station to PP mode when we designated the first target?)

Here's where one of the problems I've seen players encountering happens:

DO NOT SWITCH ANY STATION BACK TO PP MODE FROM THIS POINT.

You still have a target designated, which is feeding your TOO coordinates.

Switching to PP mode on the first station will overwrite your PP coordinates with the TOO.

The workaround/solution:

Simply undesignate before switching any station with a PP coordinate back to PP mode if it has automatically switched to TOO mode. Undesignating will prevent the TOO coordinates from uploading into PP coordinates, so after you undesignate, you can step through and change the modes on all stations.

For BRU-55 racks, the process is the same, undesignate and switch all stations back to PP mode and select PP2 before starting the TOO process again.

Hope this helps!

Only way that I can think of to verify would be to check for the designation diamond on the HUD or HSI with a selected station still in TOO mode. If the current station is in PP mode with a valid coordinate it will display a diamond regardless.
