DmitriKozlowsky
This not a bug per se. Its just a performance compromise issue. If DCS runs when there is no NETFLIX (run through Chrome or Opera) everything is great. FPS in 70-90's or higher depending on module and mission. Overall excellent performance. Same for Netflix. But if I run DCS and Netflix (in Chrome) both slow down. They don't like each other. For DCS FPS drop is about 30%. Netflix likewise cannot play HD content. Other combinations have no problem. DCS and Maya, DCS and Houdini, DCS and NUKE, DCS and Realflow, DCS and Arnold(Renderer) , even DCS and Redshift , don;t effect DCS as long as DCS.exe has higher priority. But with DCS and Netflix , giving DCS high priority and Chrome on low priority, still compromises DCS performance.
Tricky11
Confused as to why you want to watch netflix and play dcs at the same time? lol
DmitriKozlowsky
My personal quirk. I don't watch Netflix, I listen to it. Same with YouTube. It helps me concentrate. As I suffer from tinitus (thanks to US Army Field Artillery), and the ringing becomes pronounced with silence . Wether I am working or DCSsimming, Netflix and YT helps. Pikey
I'm sure there are plenty of ways to compromise DCS performance. Whilst I suppose the deeper question is, "Does it benefit many people to know why?" Myself, I didn't benefit, because I ensure I run minimal CPU threading on my DCS.exe core. There could be many reasons, I can chuck some out, but I don't think you would benefit from knowing why, in the end, so it's probably safe enough to park in the box of DCS mysteries. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *

FoxxyTrotty
It is as Bignewy has hinted, browsers use hardware acceleration (aka your graphics card) to do stuff, like playing videos, smooth scrolling and so forth. You could try lowering the video (within netflix browser / user settings) streaming to lowest quality/resolution possible, minimizing the web browser, and disabling hardware acceleration within your browser... You mention chrome - click on the 3 dots top right, under the red X - choose settings, scroll down and click advanced, scroll down again, and near the bottom is a checkbox (enabled by default) that says "use hardware acceleration when available" - untick. I have tinnitus myself and know how frustrating it can be at times, i find audio books or podcasts help a lot as well - plenty of free ones about. Hope these suggestions both explain why, and help resolve issue. . . . . . . . Every module/ map except the dual winged joke.
lmp
You could also consider some audio streaming service instead (if all you do is listen). No point in having Chrome take away resources (whether GPU or CPU) from DCS to play a video when you aren't watching it. I don't know how effective will this be for you, but it may be worth a shot. AeriaGloria
Another person with tinnitus here. I also need to try the recommendations here. I use YouTube for similar reasons as the OP but i know it’s bad for my performance.
