Status? Worth it?

The fact it was originally sold as a one time purchase for all modules, the fact they are now trying to charge for each module, absolutely not, they either change this or i'll be doing everything in my power to obtain a refund

Day 1 purchase here for the NS430 and I also vividly remember reading that the purchase price included all future integrations in other models, the first one planned being the L-39. That was my understanding and a major factor in my decision to purchase without hesitation.

I was especially interested and looking forward to the integration in the L-39 module. I remember pics were posted.

I will be extremely dissapointed with ED if it is true that my day 1 purchase excludes the L-39 and will required to be purchase seperately!

I don't ever remember it being sold as a one time purchase for all modules. Do you know where you saw this? Because I never saw mention of it being a one time purchase for all.

When was it offered as a one time purchase for all modules? I bought it on day one and it was clearly labelled as being exclusively for the Mi-8 with no details given if or how it would be ported to other modules.

"Worth it" is very subjective. Some will like it very much. I was interested in the L-39 version until I read that it is only for front seat and without gunsight mounted!

Only overlays except L-39 or Mi-8... To me it feels like a re-package of something old with minimal effort. Kind of like MAC. While it will offer something to some players, Id rather see a a well rounded and complete product. And I think that for 14.99$ all cockpits should at least have the NS430 3D model, clickable or not.

The 3D model is more integrated into the cockpit systems, while the overlay is not. I believe that is where the difference is.

You can buy the 2D popup version and it will work with all aircraft except those with advanced nav already.

The 3D versions are specific to modules and cannot be just swapped over.

Uh, you missed the bit where you have to buy the popup version before you can use the 3d version.

"For work of this module, you must also own the DCS: NS 430 and DCS: L-39 Albatros modules."

Charging 6USD/aircraft but with it actually integrated is "ok" I guess, but then forcing you to buy the popup version (which is literally the "systems" of the module") then 6USD/aircraft for what amounts to a 3d model placed in a cockpit with the popup rendered to the model instead of a popup is absurd at best.

That is the pop up version. Doesnt have that requirement.

Its an extra charge for the integration into the cockpit and systems, yes.

Can I ask what systems the NS430 interacts with that justifies the extra charge? Just so I am clear on what exactly I would be paying for.

No, I am saying the 3D version requires the Popup version before it will work in the L-39 or Mi-8. At least according to the descriptions. Basically you are forced to buy the popup version even if you only want the 3D one for X aircraft.

The electrical system, and the work that goes into integrating a 3D model, and coding all that it takes to integrate it into the aircraft's systems.

You buy the NS430 base, that covers all aircraft except those that have advanced nav systems already. Its a 2D popup window. If you want the 3D model mounted on the dash, and integrated with the aircraft systems, there is a small charge for individual aircraft, and only the Mi-8 and L-39 have this option right now.

for aircrafts without a map? yes it is worth.

but it might make you ignore the other navaids. for example mi-8 has doppler navigation system and some radio navs. since i installed ns-430, i never used them. laziness at its finest :)

I bought it long ago but I can't get the 2D to work.

How do you get it to come up.

I hit Left Shift, Left Alt, B and........................ nothing.

Is that not the correct command?

And before anyone asks, YES, I do have the pop up enabled in the special tab.

Beside electrical, Is It also integrated in l-39 radio systems and HSI? Are there specific integrated functions possible only with the 3d version or the functilonalities are exactly the same of the 2d? And why only front Seat and not both? In coop multiplayer It Can Be good to have the man in the backseat to manage navigation. Just to Be sure if the pop-up version is enough to me or I Need the 3d too before purchase.

There are Modules.. a single entity that can be used everywhere. Like planes that can be flown on any map. WW2 asset pack that can be used on any map.

And there are aircraft modifications. Like installing a GPS in a specific plane.

When ED called the GPS a module, and never specifically specified that the purchase was only for the Mi-8. Yes at that time it only worked on the Mi-8, but it was already known that it would work on the L-39 in the future as well.

So, yes ED dropped the ball when they initially released the NS 430. They should have sold it as an improvement on a specific module, and not as a module in itself. That initial oversight can be corrected of course. And now they have done so.

Except that leaves me as a legacy owner of nearly all modules feeling like I've been cheated by ED. And ED can argue all they want, just the fact that there is so much uproar about this issue means that even though ED thinks it's in the right, their customers don't think so.

The message was not received in the way it was apparently intended.

I have followed the forum, Facebook and Reddit over the last 20+ hours. And what I have seen is very disturbing and worrying.

DCS as a franchise is dealing with a limited number of customers. People who are passionate about flightsims, vocal, and some of whom have spend well over $1200 to 1400 on ED products. Those are the people who pay your salaries!

This is exactly NOT the way you treat your customers.

Since there is so much uproar, The messenger (ED) must have miscommunicated in the past, otherwise this issue wouldn't have been raised. No big deal. As long as you deal with it as a company who values it's customers. You address the issue, you apologize, and you try to make it right.

ED really needs to take a look at how it wants to treat it's customers.

The title of the topic is "status? Worth It?". I'm asking questions about its status in order to understand if It worths for me. Is It possible to have an answer from whom has already purchased, or is this topic only to read complaints? If the latter, I suggest to change the title.

The only way it is currently integrated is that it exists in the cockpit. Coms don't function at all, and the nav and GPS tracking only works in relation to the NS430's own nav modes and localisers (and are bugged in many ways too, so that's probably for the best… :D) — no outside instruments of any kind are affected in any way by the presence of the NS430.

I guess I will wait too, especially as the current 3D implementation needs the gunsight to be removed and therefore is not very useful in a tactical way. Hopefully it gets added to the ZA and can be used together with the gun sight.
