I tried to set this to om in order to get rid of the low level flying image abnormalities I see in choppers and it just dropped my FPS from a rock solid 45 fps online/offline to a solid 38 fps stutterfest…. I deleted the fxo and shader files but still it was just a mare! HP G2 Reverb, Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate as standard. OpenXR user, Open XR tool kit disabled. Open XR was a massive upgrade for me. DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), 0 X MSAA, 0 X SSAA. My real IPD is 64.5mm. Prescription VROptition lenses installed. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC at the mo. MT user (2 - 5 fps gain). DCS run at 60Hz. Vaicom user. Thrustmaster warthog user. MFG pedals with damper upgrade.... and what an upgrade! Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height with brail enhancements to ensure 100% button activation in VR.. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Gunnars Driver Posted January 30, 2020 Share Posted January 30, 2020 Why would it do that? It sets a max frame rate, not minimum. That is a good question. I am just reporting what I have been experiencing. I’m not sure, but you are most probably having a regular pc monitor connected, my guess is it is set at 60hz(fps) when using VR. Vsync might maybe get the 60 fps as the limit and I think vsync will cut the framerate to 30fps When it is set to 60fps if the computer cannot manage to produce 60fps which should be quite common when doing DCS in VR. So you dont have any number of red spikes that might cause problems ? Ok, so I've been thinking about your situation and trying some stuff out. Now, I have found some odd behaviour myself. I can now find scenarios that produce the same effect you were talking about, i.e. showing decent frame times not being reflected in the fps. Certainly in my case, this is down to being CPU bound at times as suggested by someone else here. A few things here: 1) Looking at fpsVR, I can see situations where I am seeing GPU frames of 12-15ms, yet CPU of 25-30ms. Then, the fps shows lower than 45. 2) My fps now jumps around between 45 and 90 when it didn't before when it would jump immediately from 45 to 90. 3) I am seeing frame times of less than 10ms, yet fpsVR (and DCS) do not always show 90fps. 4) There is total inconsistency between the frame times and GPU memory values shown in fpsVR and DCS. In fact, I'm not sure what the DCS values represent, as it can show 17Gb of GPU RAM on my 2080Ti! Can one or two of you guys do me a favour? Load up Hornet 'Ready on the Ramp' in Persian Gulf and the 'Cold Start' Training Mission and tell me what you see in fpsVR for CPU frame time. Please state what CPU you are using if it's not in your sig. Thanks a lot. Our overall GPU/CPU memory usage is pretty similar as per fpsVR.
