It's a fighter that can kill stuff on the ground. A/G is boring af, though, so it's a fighter for me. :D

Quite few people disagree that A/G is boring af.

Oh, by the way I hope you meant "af" as in Air Force. This is US Navy aviation man...

I primarily run A2G and SEAD missions, with possible A2A engagements included. But ACM is very fun in the Hornet and the inclusion of MSI changed the A2A game for me and made it much richer.

Wut?

In the F-14 you’ve got two great big engines, so when you get in trouble or make a mistake all you’ve got to do is put the burners on, lower the nose, and presto all your energy’s back.

Once you spend your energy in hornet it’s gone. You don’t get to make mistakes.

The one perk to the Hornet in MP is that alot of the A2A engagements, in my experience, often occur in the mountains. I feel more confident when having to maneuver in the phone booth along with the AIM-9X.

I primarily fly fighter missions in DCS. I've launched way more AMRAAM's than anything else from the F-18. That said I've come to feel that the plane is more of a ground attack aircraft than a fighter because you have to choose between carrying only a handful of missiles or being able to accelerate. With 2 AIM-120 and 2 AIM-9 it's a decent light interceptor, but anything more makes it feel like a truck.

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

This^ I don't know what the actual drag produced by carrying additional missile racks is on the real Hornet but the F/A-18 feels sluggish when even carrying just 6 Aim-120s. I don't get the same feeling when carrying bombs.
