LABELs SYSTEM - Not really helping, IMO

Can't DCS just read the current main window render resolution and use that to factor the size of the dots? It knows exactly what resolution it is drawing every frame and it's written in the MonitorSetup.lua!

I love my 4K monitor but I feel blind even in dogfights because a 4k pixel dot on a 28" screen half a meter away from my eyes is pretty small! And I don't even need glasses yet!

But then someone running a 4k monitor much bigger than yours would have an unfair advantage, it needs to be a system that can be adaptable but not so abusable. But we are looking into it for sure.

Any updates to the server side custom label mod?
If you add the labels.lua into the Miz file (config/view/labels.lua), and Mission enforces dot labels etc. it overrides personal settings in multiplayer.

Thus you can add a modified labels.lua to any server hosted Miz.

When you say add to the Miz file, do you mean unzip the miz, create a folder structure config/view, put labels.lua in it and then zip it back up?

Yep, exactly. Using 7-Zip you can do this basically in one go, without the need to unzip and zip again.

Keep in mind the integrated labels Lua overrides your settings, as well. So if you change your labels you may need to reintegrate into all modified Miz files, again.

You don't need to unzip the miz file, just open it with WinRAR for example and drag and drop the Config folder you created in it, save it :smilewink:

Dear all, what mods are people currently using for labels on their servers, I heard LFDM has a really good one, can someone point me in the direction of a download for some of the more popular label mods?

The topic has gone hot again internally. Thanks.

Here is one I like to use.... Makes all labels dark grey/black and they fade out the further away they are. Makes it easier to spot, but you still have to get close to visually ID the contact.

While you're doing that, would it also be possible to have a look at the bug where labels are improperly forced in multiplayer? It's quite nice that there are so many options and customisations available in the label system — the fact that you have to throw 75% of it out the instant you do anything MP-related unfortunately reduces that niceness.
