MFD Cougar Pack and VR?

Hi all,

Any of you use the MFD Cougar twin packs while in VR?

Count the buttons like psuedo-braille before you push perhaps? Faster with just using mouse instead?

Been thinking about them but I haven't flown non-VR in probably 2 years, and will never go back to 2D :)

Hell yes. I recently picked up a set and love it. Also have a num keypad mounted between them as a poor mans UFC.

I have added small silicon bumps just inside the centre buttons on each side to help the feel. Then I just have to be a bit anal about positioning them before you put the HMD on.

It took a few flights to gain the required muscle memory but wont look back now. I tap away on those buttons faster than I can type on the keyboard...

Highly recommend - especially with something like i have mine installed on a duel monitor stand and it works very well as can figure to the exact height/position and the Vesa plate on the stand (link below) only needs a slight 2mins with a drill/dremel to elongate the holes by 2mm to line up with the MFD. Far better than anything i've found including the monster tech ones (which are daylight robbery imo, i think they have lost the plot to be fair re their price structure)

One other thing i would recommend on the middle button on each side i have black stick on foam pads same size as the button and just helps focus the finger - to be honest your muscle memory gets it right 99% of the time anyway.

But yes in summary a MFD's work exceptionally well in VR, but i do think the monitor stand helps with that.

I used them and found pretty useful if you can get them fixed like others mentioned. However, after having PointCtrl I sold both unites along eith my lilliput screens and never looked back. PointCtrl is amazing on VR, really the best “hand track” solution right now. Sadly I did not test mfd+PointCtrl, but if you have a setup like the one posted, I think it would be even better!

Works great for me as well! Have three MFDs and a Tekcreations UFC flying VR only and after a couple of days muscle memory made the MFDs easy to use

Modules and maps: all of them

I put little adhesive rubber bumps on the middle buttons, between that and the rocker switches on the corners, it's pretty easy to know where the buttons are while in VR

That´s interesting, the PoinCtrl experience convinced you so much you sold everything.

Now you make me curious ;)

Another vote for point control. I gave up all my external peripherals, UFCs etc aside from sticks/throttles which keep multiplying.

New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1)

Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).

Mmmm that would be a massive leap in my cockpit.

Could you combine both? or unless the peripherals are located exactly where they belong in the cockpit, is it a mess?
