VR Shaders mod for better VR experience

I have updated the water file (for the clear water versions) with the suggestions from @CaptYosi's Post

 

DCS Shaders 2.5.6.47224 (IC Pass)

I can't get IC Pass to work with Mustang's Shadow mod

OK, I am now officially confused! I see now what you mean about the water. I didn't notice in my quick testing before as I was only looking at the sea, which looks OK. however, I get transparent rivers etc.

What I am confused about is that how does my water get affected if I am not installing the mod's water file?

yep life is a mystery :) i suspect there is some other variable set in another file that is passed to water fx ... i just dont know where it is!

I have mine set to 199% in the steam vr setting for DCS.

PD in dcs set to 1.0.

 

You got 199% and 6x MSAA? with a 2070 Super. Which VR headset have you got because there is no way I could run this with a 2080 super and my Reverb

One odd thing with this shader fix and the one found here:

 

The first time I load a mission DCS starts and run. But when I just restart the same mission invariably it crashes the game. Constantly.

Samsung odyssey +.

I have also tweaked dcs graphics settings which may be aiding my higher FPS/ frame times.

Ill try to get a screenshot of my settings so you can try to replicate them.

I don't think so. If what you're after is 8x, you need to use the value 4 - #define ENABLE_DIFFUSE_SS 4

I don't think so. The only thing I've ever changed is the masksize, and that did not require it.

Unfortunately - no. If only...

 

From the OP:

 

Another new setting is supersampling for the albedo (diffuse) textures for objects. This is a very performance-cheap way to get improved clarity especially for the cockpit labels and stuff. So instead of having to supersample the entire rendered scene to get more sharpness, it will sample the diffuse texture multiple times. With this I was able to reduce the pixel density a lot without getting a blurry cockpit, which in turn allowed me to turn on 4xMSAA and everything looks better overall with improved performance.

so what is the recommended PD or SS with MSAA 4x and Diffuse 8?

 

PD is an in game setting I always set it at 1,

 

SS is set in SteamVR and is graphics card dependent mine is currently set at 108% which leads to good results for me on my hardware... i'm using MSSA 2x and Diffuse 4 at the moment

 

and thats the problem with your question the answer is very heavily hardware dependent, so you may have to fiddle

I am using the IC Pass Clear Water, latest version that was linked and am failing IC.

 

 

The only change I made was the mask size to .550 for my O+. If I deactivate the mod, everything else is working fine.

don't know what to tell you i am using the same mod, try turning shadows off , and then restarting ... i saw this when i tried using mustangs shadows mod...

in your nvidia settings, why are you using antialiasing at enhance application settings? Set it to default and let the application handle it; that should decrease the workload a bit.
