Lixma 06
I'm confused, in the 'technical questions' on the FAQ page it says.... only DCS keys bought on Steam before 12th May 2017 can be used on DCS stand alone. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/500/#1510447 So if I buy the Mig-15 (not on your exceptions list) on Steam what will happen? My DCS & modules are fully ED (non-Steam) - Will I get a key and will I be able to activate it in my module manager?
SkateZilla
click on the module, if it has a notification on the left hand side aboit 3rd party DRM/Starface activations, then you can activate it on EDs distribution of DCS World using the Starforce Key. Nealius
I'm interested in NTTR on the Steam sale, but will standalone modules purchased from the DCS website work in the Steam version of NTTR?

Nealius
That makes the Steam version rather pointless.

Quadg
its just the stupidity of DRM.. causes the paying customers, the distributors and software owners, more problem, than it ever causes criminals.. ED are in a DRM tangle of their own making. and paying customers are being annoyed by it. the criminals are not. you need to read the small print in every module to avoid the tangle yourself. I'm a bit annoyed that I can get the f86f in the steam sale and use it in standalone, but I cant buy the museum relics campaign because of the DRM.. 1 My Rig: AM5 7950X, 32GB DDR5 6000, M2 SSD, EVGA 1080 Superclocked, Warthog Throttle and Stick, MFG Crosswinds, Oculus Rift. Steam and Steam users have wanted ED to Shift to using Steam's DRM instead of Starforce for a while. Any Module released to steam after May 12th, 2017 will use Steam's DRM. Any Module that was prior to that will still use the Starforce DRM. It's annoying for users that use multiple distributors for sales (I myself have keys from ED, Steam and GameFly), But Steam has requested the Items on their Store front be protected by their DRM, Nothing the END USER can do about that.
