eyeglasses for vr

Recommended Posts

As I age, I now need bifocals/progressives. How do others of you deal with this? Or do you just get lasik? I think I like to keep wearing glasses because it makes me look intelligent and less of the savage.

So there are VR glasses

and there are even inserts for the various vr headsets

Has anyone here tried either of these?

How did you modify your prescription to accommodate for the fact that you are looking at an lcd panel a couple of inches from your eye?

Yes , i have used vr optician lens inserts on two headsets now (CV1 and Rift S) . I will be using them for the G2 as well . You don't have to "modify" your prescription . VR uses "far" vision , not "near" . Just supply your original prescription (and ipd) and they'll do the rest .

I use my regular not too big glasses. Even my contact lenses that only focus for distant objects in the real world work very well in VR for the flight instruments too. No need for reading glasses in VR for me.

In the real world I hate progressives. I just put my regular glasses at the tip of my nose and the changed distance to the eye and the changed viewing angle make reading possible very well.

I have the VR-lens-lab one. It sits a little too close to the eye so I added a little bit of foam to separate it from my eyes. But I've had it for a while.

I'm not a fan of HMD specific inserts because it's of no use if you change it. I've used the vr-lens-lab goggles with CV1, Pimax, Odyssey, and not Reverb. To me, that's the way to go.

I have a pair of VR Opticians. They are just great.

If you have some people who are willing to try your headset, just flip em out and put them back in afterwarts. Piece of cake.

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind combat pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!
