Undersized 490l fuel tank

Hi, I noticed wrong size of 490 l fuel tank.

Not just tiny size error, more than 1000 mm! which is allot.

se the real size in picture below and compare it to the size from Leatherneck.

Correct size of tank is 5300 mm length and 450 mm max diameter.

With dimension, also hindge is missaligned. In DCS is more forward position. The texture of pylon in DCS is indicating where it should be.

Your 490L fuel tank is good start, but I had to rework all textures (base, roughmet, normal map) with better accuracy and details. But the result is almost what I wanted. Only thing is the resolution of textures. It is still not enought for crisp detailed textures with stencils. Please, fi you can help with this, I would love it!

 

Here is my "Pre-realease" version of "CZAF 9801" with bigger, reworked fuel tank:

SVKSniper made this for us, on my call for help. So I started with the files I downloaded here.

So I tried to improve following:

weld lines missing or wrong place,

fuel filler cap missing and another two circular caps,

3 black holes at the bottom

Normal map should represent weld as convex, not concave,

tail of tank should be offset from its axis little bit upwards, but Im not used to work in 3D, so it is still not accurate = axisymmetric.

ok, now it is more clear. however, very great work. what about the repaints/skins? is also a silver one available? i would be happy to download and use it!

Of course, Priority for me was the textures for my two skins, but Metal/Silver is one, which is "MUST HAVE, must be done" version, together with ability to load it as a center tank. Than I can that also provide PSD template for download.

GumidekCZ and SVKSniper - great work with the tank, however this model also has to be (and can be) used for the central 490l tank. Thanks once more.

I use it as a central tank...just make a copy and rename it in PTB-490c-MIG21.edm (c for central) and put them in the respectable folder: C:\Games\DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\aircraft\MiG-21BIS\Shapes

I have managed to contact SVKSniper yesterday and agreed on some following steps to improve 3D model and texture resolution. When we both are happy, we can send the result to you -Rudel-, than its up to you :)
