Were there many helicopters in Normandy, circa '44? :music_whistling:

I mean I get it. Been around flight sims long enough to know that giving a public ETA can be painful if anything fowls up the works with the extremely unforgiving nature of the CFS community, but if not that then why not?

I know but I think it looks terrible and, as with CoD, I'll be turning it off. I don't think unrealistic waving grass serves any purpose in a flight sim except to eat frame rates. I don't recall mention of any airfields, even ALGs, being knee deep in grass.

This is off topic, but it's exactly that reason. ED (and other devs) have in the past said "We're aiming to maybe possibly have y out by xx if it all goes well". This for some becomes "ED promised it'd be here by xx", and then some people think the correct response is to grab the pitchforks and burning torches.

Ergo, ED don't give dates anymore.

Back on topic, new grass looks lovely. Hopefully it'll be heavily lod'ed, as I very much am looking forward to lovely landscapes around airfields and doing low level work, but definitely don't need it when a few hundred meters up

Since any aircraft,helicopters and CA vehicles can operate on this map.Any chance someone could make an updated Cold War or a Modern Britain and France with RAF/RN and French air bases with concrete runways and cities like London and Paris among other things in this map.For possible what-if scenarios between Western Europe and Russia or any other country.:thumbup:

You are asking for a much larger map than the one currently being developed. It covers part of Normandy, and possibly a small section of the south coast of England (though this is unconfirmed). Neither London nor Paris are anywhere near.

And NTTR already tips the scales at 25 Gb!

Map size should be a rational decision based on the possible, and not pipe dreams.

We could do with some English coast, and plenty of Normandy battlefield, but a Hi-res Paris or London - to refight the D-Day landings - why?

What we need is a detailed area central to the campaign, lesser detail further away, and maybe a few Southern English airbases. What exactly could we do with real estate so far removed from the action? A bit of shopping maybe?

Imagine the FPS drop the Paris skyline would cause. Oh the humanity.

Hopefully it will include he south of england as far north as the river thames (no need for hi-res London) because many many airfields were located in the southern region. A 450 x 450 km map with the top left anchored around Bristol would do nicely. :)

Yeah,I think adding London and Paris may be pushing it texture wise.But is there any modern British or French air bases or airports that your covering with this map that could be used to make a Cold War era map.Or is there no RAF and French Air bases to cover in the area of Normandy and the SE of England.

As of now there is nothing definite stating that the map includes any part of England at all.

I wouldnt expect anything over in the area of England right now, our best hope would be a low-rez mesh that we could drop the new FARP airfields on, but I am not sure we will even see that. The map is in the sim now, so I hope we will see an updater of size and area soon.

Hey Sith, maybe you or someone else can comment on if there are future WWII theaters planned? Also is the Normandy map considered to be a test bed for things to come for the WWII era?

Sounds like you are referring to the Pacific theater, Iwo Jima? Have not seen/heard anything on a project for this area.
