Hey Guys,

I may have a possible solution to this deck sliding.

While I was observing this, I got thinking, "could this be a view problem?". So in the F2 view, the system is trying to center on the aircraft.

In settings under MISC. tab, I changed F2 view from "Floating" to "None". No more deck sliding on the carrier in F2 view, steady as a rock.

Let ne know how you go.

Cheers!

With the gret size of this thread (indication a great number of people with the issue) I find it very hard to belive that no one in the ED team is experiencing this, if anyone at all isn't, we have to consider that the great majority of the playerbase don't engage in the forum/bug reporting

Hornet slides on the deck above 20kt, it's just that simple it's common knowledge to the point that no mission/server has a carrier over that speed, we have multiples tracks and missinos and videos showcasing it, there is no reason at all to even consider that this isn't a major problem, it would be nice to have it acknowledged and said to be worked on as a top priority

Its being and has been worked on, what is weird now that we are not able to reproduce, I am hoping that means a fix is in, and the next patch will clear it for all. But as of right now, I am not sure why its happening for some and not others. But as you pointed out, there is a reasonable workaround.

Not trying to teach you to suck eggs, but it's definitely worth running the release build that your clients are using (i.e. Open Beta) alongside whatever develop build you've got - that way you can verify that the bug does exist in release, and then test whether the same scenario repeats the issue in the develop build. If you're just testing in develop, you've got no idea if it's fixed or if you're just using the wrong steps.

I have tested everything in the Open Beta build that you all have access to. I always start with the same version as what the public has, and then move up the development ladder. It wouldnt make sense to test your tracks in anything but the same version. I have been doing this testing thing for a while now. I run 6 different versions of DCS on my computer, and on different drives such as standard HDD and SSD. I also have a version installed on my wife's gaming laptop. So I have it covered.

Hi Nine,

Sorry I started this thread but never replied haha, haven't been checking the forums/ further testing of the 'issue' as I've just been too busy.

So this AM before work I quickly setup a very simple mission, start on ramp cold, carrier going 10kts, no wind. Remove chocks, go to drain the tanks to 50% and still saw decksliding/hoping... I say hoping because in this case it's more like a stutter in the sliding.

I've attached a zip containing track and miz file. Hope it helps.

Note, you can even see the sliding happen when refuelling/rearming even when the boat it moving at 1kt. The movement is tiny, like it moves a pixel (on a 1080 screen) every 3-5 seconds but that still shows something isn't 100% with it.

Hope you guys can resolve this as I'm sure the team really don't want to be burning energy on it anymore.

Cheers,

Danny

If you spawn in the air then land do you still slide on the deck ?

Cheers.

Here is my .miz file for a Persian Gulf mission. 29 knots of wind over the deck. The Hornet is slip-sliding all over the place but it seems as though it is more pronounced after taking off and coming back to land.

Sorry, I forgot to add that I am running the most recent update and hotfix to the OpenBeta with no mods.

For me personally I have no sliding at all in any situation unless the carrier speed/wind speed over the deck is over 20kt

I noticed in Wags' video, where he had indicated that the deck sliding had been fixed, there was not any vortices coming off the wingtips. I am seeing that in all of my missions, both multiplayer as well as single player. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

I dont think so as I get no sliding, but I do see the vortices.

It's not a once in a while thing, I get the sliding 100% guarantee of the times when carrier is above 20kt

It's like I said, doesn't matter the setup, the missions age, the type of loadout, the weight. If carrier is over 20kt it slides 100% of the time, i find it really hard to belive that it won't slide for anyone unless if very specific situations maybe, I have never had it not slide over 20kt doesn't matter the setup

Ok, so I did manage to get one of the tracks to slide watching it on my Steam Open Beta install. Watching the same track with the release candidate for this next week shows no sliding, its my hope that means this has been fixed internally, so please check and confirm when the next patch drops.

Thanks guys.

Awesome news, hopefully that is the case. If not, so be it, we just have to be patient.

Great news if this can be fixed . . I've never been able to taxi to cat #4 without 'going over the edge" . . carrier speed has made no difference with my system.

I have had issues in VR between different maps . . I believe that has been addressed with this issue.

Keeping fingers crossed . . . thanks ED!

Great to hear that. Can't wait to configure real WOD above 20 knots. Looking forward... every second Wednesday is like christmas at the moment pinkiepieexcited.png

Just did myself some taxing around on the deck with on max speed (27kt, set to 30 on ME) and until now I've had no sliding at all, looking good so far!
