BIG improvement over the actual ones!!!:thumbup:

 

Hope during the WiP period they add more fire effect, longer dust disipation time (I would like something like 3 or 5 minutes for some explosions) and especially something I think is KEY to make them look great is CASTING SHADOWS for the smoke column!, that's what gives the sense of height and determines with precision where the explosion happened.

 

Overall going in the right direction imo!:)

 

 

Totally so, so make it so!

 

As well possible for darker smoke, lots of fire and slow smoke clouds.

 

Would be nice to know what did the L-39 really drop here?

So now what they have looks more like the effect of shockwave, dirt flying up but no fire and no smoke.

 

Very great improvements to current ones, but at least these are still WIP and they do know all these things so waiting that we see them too! :)

They were attacking a field, not much smoke or fire from dirt... (there is fire in there if you look)
Yes, just like the above ones were many on just dirt and rocks...

 

Where there are explosives, there is fire and smoke.

 

And yes there is little bit fire but not fire clouds etc like those videos.

Mostly hitting open ground so there's nothing much to burn. Detonation flashes, however, are definitely there. Plus I'd guess these are still WIP, so we'll probably see more pyrotechnics later where appropriate.

 

Anyway, these are a vast improvement over the old ones IMO.

Yes, and I know some comparisons are made with leading First Person Shooters, but most of those are using very limited units, tiny tiny maps, they can afford more being added to their effects. So while people want to see life like effects, ED needs to make sure we can run it. I know most of you understand that though.

 

Our SUU-7 cluster bombs punish the current FX engine. Hopefully the new one is better, looking forward to it!

Not sure if Cluster effects have been worked on, but I would imagine all will be, these new effects are really easy on the GPU so far... but as always WIP.

As stated before though, you have to balance with performance, we dont want all this work done and then have a slide show anytime a bomb is let off...

That is also great news of course. :)

 

Might these new explosions open the door for new clouds as well? They seem like an excellent jumping off point given their appearance.

If you look at some of the latest vids from the dev team, including Wags, you might see hints at the work on WIP clouds ;)

Look the real bombs being dropped... You don't need a burning material for that.

On a bombing drop training zone there ain't anymore anything that burns and yet most bombs generate big fire and smoke traces.

 

Those are bombs, not a flashbangs....

Those are bombs, not a flashbangs....

Real bombs, unlike the Hollywood ones, don't contain bags of gasoline for added dramatic effect. FABs are, of course, a different thing altogether.

Check the above.... Lots of fire from most...

 

I am not talking Hollywood effects, buy there are clear fireballs in most bomb drops in daytime even. Even yours had it.

 

And smokey ones they are, not just dirt going up.
