Guest Guest
I don't know if it's possible, but I was wondering if I could get some help tweaking settings for better FPS while still having the cockpit of my jet look decent. Overall just get some input on what settings people run on with what hardware and how they manage to get the best FPS with what they have. My desktop is i7 4790, gtx 1060 3gb, 16gb RAM, 500gb SSD, win 10. I'm not so much worried about low frames on it, but if I could get higher I'd be happy. settings on my desktop are: textures: medium terrain textures: low civ traffic: medium water: medium visb range: ultra heatblur: off shadows: medium resolution: 1920x1200 the native of the LCD tv I play on aspect ratio: 1.778 1 monitor res of cockpit display: 1024 MSAA: 2x depth of field: off lens effects: off motion blur: off SSAA: off ansiotropic filtering: off terrain object shadows: flat cockpit global illumination: off rain droplets: on clutter/grass: 0 Trees visibility: 30% Preload radius: 100 chimney smoke density: 1 gamma: 2.2 vsync: on My laptop is an i7 3.2ghz, gtx 970m, 16gb ram, 500gb SSD, win10. My laptop is the one that I get lower FPS on I get about 38-50 on the ground at Dubai Intl in heavy rain depending where I'm looking. Here's the current DCS settings: textures: medium terrain textures: low civ traffic: medium water: medium visib range: ultra heatblur: off shadows: medium resolution: 1080p aspect ratio: 1.778 res of cockpit displays: 1024 MSAA: 2x depth of field: off lens effects: off motion blur: off ssaa: off ansiotropic filtering: off terrain object shadows: off cockpit global illumination: off rain droplets: off clutter/grass: 0 trees visibility: 30% preload radius: 100 chimney smoke density: 1 gamma: 2.2 vsync: on

Rudel_chw
Hello, Here is the best recent guide for tweaking the graphics settings of DCS ... it helped me a lot: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=202092 Regarding your notebook, its weak link is the gpu, as the m(obile) version of the gtx970 has half the performance of the desktop version ... on your case I would play DCS only on the desktop pc. Guest Guest
I guess the best settings for my hardware are just clicking the medium button and making some tweaks from there. My desktop is i7 4790, gtx 1060 3gb, 16gb RAM, 500gb SSD, win 10. With these settings I get 55-60fps in the rain around Dubai with the raindrop effect on. My jet's cockpit looks good with the exception of the lines of my radar display, HUD, or gun sight being slightly jagged due to not having MSAA on, but MSAA appears to be an FPS killer so I turned it off. textures: medium terrain textures: low civ traffic: medium water: medium visb range: medium heatblur: off shadows: medium resolution: 1920x1200 the native of the LCD tv I play on aspect ratio: 16:10 1 monitor res of cockpit display: 1024 MSAA: off depth of field: off lens effects: off motion blur: off SSAA: off ansiotropic filtering: 4x terrain object shadows: off cockpit global illumination: off rain droplets: on clutter/grass: 0 Trees visibility: 30% Preload radius: 100 chimney smoke density: 1 gamma: 2.2 vsync: on Here's the settings that seem to work best on my laptop. Which is an i7 3.2ghz, gtx 970m, 16gb ram, 500gb SSD, win10. textures: medium terrain textures: low civ traffic: low water: medium visib range: low heatblur: off shadows: medium resolution: 1080p aspect ratio: 1.778 res of cockpit displays: 1024 MSAA: off depth of field: off lens effects: off motion blur: off ssaa: off ansiotropic filtering: 4x terrain object shadows: off cockpit global illumination: off rain droplets: off clutter/grass: 0 trees visibility: 30% preload radius: 100 chimney smoke density: 1 gamma: 2.2 vsync: on I get 45-55FPS on the ground spawned on the runway at Dubai Intl. with the weather set on heavy rain at 12:00pm. By turning down visib range to medium or low I seem to get better FPS. From what I understand visib range doesn't affect planes or military vehicles so I don't see much point in having trees, buildings, and stuff like that loaded and killing FPS way before I can see them. Guest Guest
I read in this post https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=110019 that the visib range setting doesn't effect airplanes or military vehicles. That was an old post from 2013 referring to DCS 1.x so I wondered if the information about visib range was still valid and applies to DCS 2.5.
boscoh
Here's what I use on my OC'd Radeon 7950. Your 1060 should handle this fine. Are you OC'd at all? You should be able to get a least a little overclock. textures: high terrain textures: high civ traffic: off water: high visb range: medium heatblur: low shadows: low resolution: 1920x1080 1 monitor res of cockpit display: 1024 MSAA: 2x depth of field: simple lens effects: off motion blur: on SSAA: off ansiotropic filtering: 8x terrain object shadows: flat cockpit global illumination: off rain droplets: on clutter/grass: 30% of slider Trees visibility: 30% Preload radius: 30% of slider chimney smoke density: 5 gamma: 2.5 vsync: on Edited May 29, 2018 by boscoh Had some settings wrong 3800X, X570, 32GB 3600, RTX 2080Ti, SSD, Odyssey+ VR
