pegg00
Can someone point me to your favorite / most useful labels mod I can try out. Something like a dot that gradually fades the farther the bandit goes. Anything really, I simply cannot see anything and the current labels are too easy and unrealistic. Cant seem to find any recent mods for this purpose. Please and thanks.:helpsmilie:
Maggot
I can recommend the one found in a forum thread here called "smeared label mod (2.5)". You can tweak the values for distance, size etc. I use an old computer with a small screen and this is perfect for me. Danny_P
I'll grab my popcorn... You put 'Realistic' and 'labels' in the same sentence... Batten down the hatches!
Mule
I would go with what the Maggot suggested. It's not intrusive and works really well. I use it for both VR and monitor. Fighter Pilot Podcast.
David OC
I posted a little walkthrough about label mods. The first post will show you how to copy and make your own and save it. This 2nd post has some more info and a label mod for VR or can be used for screen, try making one for yourself, make it as easy or hard as You like pegg00. i7-7700K OC @ 5Ghz | ASUS IX Hero MB | ASUS GTX 1080 Ti STRIX | 32GB Corsair 3000Mhz | Corsair H100i V2 Radiator | Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe 500G SSD | Samsung 850 EVO 500G SSD | Corsair HX850i Platinum 850W | Oculus Rift | ASUS PG278Q 27-inch, 2560 x 1440, G-SYNC, 144Hz, 1ms | VKB Gunfighter Pro Chuck's DCS Tutorial Library Download PDF Tutorial guides to help get up to speed with aircraft quickly and also great for taking a good look at the aircraft available for DCS before purchasing. shagrat
I'll grab my popcorn... You put 'Realistic' and 'labels' in the same sentence... Batten down the hatches! Same can easily be said for "simulation" and "realistic". For example in VR a label with just a non-intrusive dot and no damn text and flashy colors, can improve realism. Realism meaning instead of feeling like a near blind man with heavily impaired vision you can actually spot enemy AI by normal looking around instead of only monitoring your six, as they are sure to pop up there anyway... :music_whistling: It is a bit different on normal screens, but depending on lighting, time of day and other factors it can be unrealisticly hard to spot smaller planes. Though the overall visibility of planes has improved considerably. You definitely can get used to spot, monitor and anticipate especially AI planes movements, but it still is much harder than in real life. If we get VR with decent resolution, that will improve spotting tremendously. Ala12Rv-Tundra
it can be unrealisticly hard to spot smaller planes I think that´s the point where we all disagree. And check six with Track-IR is not realistic, but neither is not fighting with G-forces, having no peripheral vision, not feeling the motion of the aircraft and especially when using a Headtracker, the lack of reference to your own body that is one of the most brilliant things in VR. If you look through a canopy you still know exactly where the nose is pointing... Oh and I can operate all buttons and handles in real life without a mouse or crazy key combos. 1 Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)

Mike Wazowsky
Try this. No label in close, small speck up to 10NM... As realistic as it gets. Fogey
Mike Wazosky, thanks for the lua...this has changed my experience in VR. I hate having labels on, but I cannot see the aircraft at all. I hate to feel like I am cheating and this is to an extent, but it really makes things so much more enjoyable.

Taz1004
Has the opacity been fixed yet? No but you can get same effect with color_blending_k value. Color blending blends with ColorUnknown listed towards the bottom of the Labels.lua. But by default, it has no alpha value. Only 3 numbers. You can simply add the 4th number as 0 to make it transparent. Then adjusting color_blending_k works like opacity.
