Not seen that problem and I use TARGET, I rarely use device analyser; but certainly not seen that error

now I'm in more trouble, can you check again for me? Started with upgrading to Reverb.

I am returning my Reverb tomorrow, after finding out that some damage to my right eye means I am unable to use a VR headset. It keeps me from attaining enough stereoscopic vision.

Sorry to hear that TWC_SLAG. I had an eye injury when I was young and have an artificial lens in my right eye. I can't focus on anything under 4 feet distance with it but anything farther out I can see fine.

Thankfully VR hasn't been a problem for me and I can enjoy the Reverb.

In your case VR should be better than without. VR lenses is most probable set to let the eye focus on infinity. For me, having past 50yrs, I starting to need glasses to read stuff in cockpit(presbyopia) when flying IRL and most things closer than 1m/3ft is not perfectly sharp....but in VR they is :-)

@TWC_SLAG: Did you consult an optician to find out if ou can get any help with the eye vs VR ?

In my HP Reverb version rev.2 after two months problems with the cable connector started. Sometimes the connector interrupts and the image goes out in the goggles. Sometimes "snow" appears on a black background. All because of the stress that arises at the connector - even a clip does not help. I designed a new cable fastener containing a Cable clip Reverb by HoiHman to prevent stress on the connector - it's version 1.0 and I have to test it during use but for now it's ok.

At 56, I notice the same, normal cockpit in GA airplanes is fine without lenses, but in DCS If I lean in for FaceTrackNOIR, I get to grab my reading glasses...I did notice a difference in the cockpits of fair to excellent improvement when going from TF-51D to P-51D-25-NA to P-51D-30-NA with the latter being the best resolution...I have my settings on 512 in the cockpit with a 1440p/144Hz monitor set to G-Sync and a 1080Ti SC Black Edition GPU driving it...might bump the cockpit up to 1024 and see how that does for me.

Yes to all 3. I have the latest version of Windows.

I have flown VR in DCS, but the cockpits are very blurry. In the P-51, for instance, the only thing in focus is the head pad saying "NO HAND HOLD".

Thanks for whatever you can do.

OK, as promised, a quick 15min tutorial on the settings that you can play with or setup in Windows Mixed Reality portal and SteamVR setting.

Hope it helps. LMK here or on YT if you have any questions.

I see. That's unfortunate. Just curious, was it physical loss of vision or was it something like amblyopia or strabismus? The whole reason why I got into VR in the first place was because I wanted to help with my son's strabismus (commonly known as lazy eye). There was a kickstarter for an app called Diplopia that helped my son. At the time, medical literature said that unless you fix it at age 2-4, you can't fix it. Then McGill university proved that the brain more pliable than previously known.

The Diplopia app became See Vividly. Again, if it's a physical damage, you can't see stereo. But if it's something else, check out https://www.seevividly.com/

It's a nice piece of work. For those of you who aren't as picky, using a wire-tie to strap it down will work just as well. I've had the very first batch of Reverb (ones before they started shipping with a clip) and never had a problem.

I've been using Rift S for about 3 months. It is somehow problematic for me, especially using with glasses, never ever been able to use it with relaxed manner. Cockpit resolution is great, no problems here but seeing the outside world is errr hard. Spotting the ground targets, spotting the single enemy aircraft with high detailed settings are not fine.

I tried out Reverb, I must say that it is very very different. At first sight you have a much wider field of view than Rift S. And it is much easier to see targets in distance. Readability for cockpit is not very different with the latest updates but resolution makes the difference when you look at your target at distance.

I have a RTX 2080 as my friend and he runs his machine with 50-55 fps.

I've sold my rift S and ordered Reverb, I hope everything will be ok.

Excellent, helpful video for novices which I'm sure a lot of peple will find really useful.

Just a couple of little points.

1) HMD stands for head-mounted display, not helmet-mounted. (Trivial!)

2) saving files in Notepad to avoid getting the txt extension is easier than you suggest. You just select 'all files' from the drop down instead of 'text documents'.

3) In my opinion, the way you describe the effect of PD and SteamVR SS is a little confusing. You say a PD of 1.5 increases by 50%, and a value of 200% doubles in SteamVR, but that is not strictly true. You're not comparing like for like there. A PD of 1.5 increases the number of pixels per axis by 50% to give a total increase in pixels of 1.5*1.5, i.e. 2.25 times the original number - more than doubling. However, a SteamVR value of 200% does double the number of pixels. SteamVR 200% is roughly equivalent to a PD value of 1.4.

Great video though!

I first insert the double cable, then I pushed the connector into the double cable and inserted the part on the HMD side. I wanted the connector to sit tight.

But everything is subject to change, this is the test phase. ;) I can make a little correction for this part if You want.
