Вот подумал смастерить электронный вариант главы из руководства FLIGHT MANUAL USAF SERIES F-86F AIRCRAFT (T.O. 1F-86F-1), касающейся бомбометания с использованием MPC (MANUAL PIP CONTROL SYSTEM), если кто переведёт - думаю многим будет полезно (с пониманием проблем нет, с использованием системы тоже, но всё-же лучше оставить перевод человеку с опытом)..

The manual pip control system (MPC) has been incorporated into the A-4 sight system on late airplanes and modified F-86F-25 and F-86F-30 Airplanes so that dive bombing may be accomplished accurately and safely. The purpose of this system is threefold: to provide a control that will displace the sight recticle pip to any desired lead angle position within the range of the A-4 sight; to provide a positive indication of the proper bomb release point; and to provide additional safety in dive-bombing operations. Two additional units (the manual pip control unit and the bombing altimeter) are used in determining proper lead, airspeed, and release altitude. The attitude indicator is used to indicate the airplane dive angle. The A-4 sight function lever must be in GUN position for the MPC to operate.



Manual Pip Control System Controls and Indicators.

Manual Pip Control Unit. The control unit (figure 4-13), on the left side of the instrument panel shroud, electrically controls the sight reticle and depresses it to a preselected lead angle. A toggle switch, mounted on the unit, actuates the manual pip control. When the switch is in the NORMAL position, the A-4 sight functions normally. When the switch is placed in the BOMB position, the manual pip control takes over control of the sight reticle and electrically cages it at the depression lead angle (0 to 174 mils) selected by the control knob in the center of the MPC unit. The unit has four calibrated dials. One dial is fixed on the face plate; the three other selectable dials are hinged at the top of the MPC unit and fold down over the control knob. The fixed dial is calibrated in mils of lead angle and is used only when definite lead angles and release altitudes are known. The folding selectable dials are calibrated in terms of the airplane dive characteristics and are for the dive-bombing function. The three dials represent three initial-entry dive-bombing conditions and have two scales each. The inner (yellow) scale is marked "DIVE ANGLE” and has 5-degrec increment graduations from 20 degrees to 90 degrees. The outer (red) scale is marked "INDEX ALTITUDE” and indicates the correct bomb release altitude for any selected dive angle (yellow scale) for a sea-level target. The necessary' adjustment for actual target altitude is made by a setting on the bombing altimeter. The index altitude and dive angle scales of the MJPC unit are calibrated in terms of airplane dive characteristics for the following airplane configurations and bombing entry and terrain clearance conditions:

a. Entry configuration — airplane trimmed for level flight, speed brakes open, and throttle at IDLE.

b. Entry altitude and airspeed — the three dials repre-sent the following stabilized entry conditions of altitude and airspeed.

ENTRY ALTITUDE (ABOVE TARGET) - KNOTS IAS

10.0 feet - 305
15.0 feet - 288
20.0 feet - 270

NOTE The altitudes are measured above the target. To obtain actual entry pressure altitude, add target altitude to entry altitude.

c. Terrain clearance — the MPC scales have been calibrated to give a 2500-foot terrain clearance for a 5G recovery initiated at the bomb release altitude.

d. External stores configurations — the MPC may be used with 500-pound or 1000-pound general-purpose bombs (with box or T-type fins) and 100-pound practice bombs, with or without drop tanks. However, buffet limitations for the particular stores should be considered in choosing the dive angle. (See figure 5-5.)

Bomb-Rocket Release Button. Refer to "Bombing Equipment Controls” in this section.

Bombing Altimeter. The bombing altimeter (figure 4-13), on the left side of the sight head, consists of a standard cabin altimeter connected to the static air source and indicates airplane pressure altitude. The purpose of this altimeter is to indicate the bomb release and pull-out altitude. An externally mounted, adjustable red-and-whitc dial is attached to the face of the altimeter. This dial incorporates an index altitude scale (the index altitude is obtained from the manual pip control unit) and an adjustable target altitude red-hairline indicator. The target altitude indicator is adjusted by a rotary knob on the left side of the altimeter. Attached to the adjustable dial is a movable black arm, with a white pointer. With the target altitude scale adjusted and the black arm positioned at the index altitude, the pointer on the opposite end of the arm indicates bomb release and pull-out altitude. As the bombing altimeter pointer coincides with the white pointer on the adjustable dial, the proper bomb release and pull-out altitude is obtained.

Attitude Indicator (Dive-angle Control). The attitude indicator (figure 4-13) on the instrument panel is equipped with a dive-angle indicating scale and is used to indicate the airplane dive angle. Dive-angle markings from 10 degrees to 90 degrees are incorporated. The indicator should show the airplane attitude prior to bomb-run entry. If the attitude indicator is not aligned to the airplane attitude prior to bomb run entry, the indicator should be caged and then uncaged to obtain proper airplane attitude indication.

NOTE The attitude indicator should be caged for alignment only when the airplane is in straight- and-levcl flight and when a true horizon is visible.

The attitude indicator dive-angle indicating scale is not included on F-86F-25 and F-86F-30 Airplanes changed to incorporate the MPC system. Instead, these airplanes have dive angle lines stenciled on the canopy. The lines cover a range from 30 to 90 degrees. To establish the desired dive angle, the line on the canopy corresponding to that angle must be aligned with the horizon.

Operation of Manual Pip Control System.

1. Turn gun safety (gun-missile selector) switch to SIGHT CAMERA RADAR, to allow for 5- to 15-minute warmup period (depending on outside air temperature) for sight. Adjust sight reticle dimmer control for reticle brilliance.

2. Sight mechanical caging lever to UNCAGED.

3. Sight filament selector switches at PRIM (or at SEC. if primary filaments are inoperative).

4. Sight function selector lever at GUN.

5. Demolition bomb release selector switch at MANUAL RELEASE.

6. After sighting target and before starting approach, set bombing-arming switch at ARM NOSE & TAIL or TAIL ONLY as desired.

7. Manual pip control switch at bomb.

8. Select MPC dial corresponding to desired entry altitude above target altitude, and dive or climb to this starting altitude. (Bomb-run entry altitude will be 10,000, 15,000, or 20,000 feet above target altitude.)

9. Select desired dive angle on MPC unit (yellow scale) and obtain index altitude on outer (red) scale.

10. Set index altitude on bombing altimeter red-and- white scale by adjusting the black arm.

11. Set target altitude on bombing altimeter by turning knob on altimeter. (White pointer now indicates proper bomb release altitude for the particular target selected.)

12. Prior to bomb-run entry, stabilize at recommended speed indicated on MPC dial selected; open speed brakes, retard throttle to IDLE, and roll into desired dive angle. (These operations should be accomplished in a minimum of time.)

13. Upon completion of roll and dive, settle reticle pip near target and check dive angle with attitude indicator (dive angle lines on canopy). As the dive is entered, the airspeed will fall off slightly, then start increasing. As the bomb run progresses, the dive angle will tend to decrease with an increase in speed; therefore, close attention should be given the dive angle during complete bomb run. If dive angle is not within 10 degrees of selected dive angle, corrections should be made. (Corrections may be made by selecting new MPC settings or by making allowances for the error. To allow for the error, release bomb 500 feet high of indicated release altitude if dive angle is 10 degrees steeper than intended; release bomb 500 feet low' of indicated release altitude if dive angle is 10 degrees shallower than intended.)

14. Track target with pip. (Just prior to bomb release, track smoothly for at least 2 seconds.) When bombing altimeter instrument pointer coincides with the white pointer on the index altitude arm, depress bomb-rocket release button and start pull-out.

С радостью бы взялся за перевод, но пока завален работой. Может через пару недель, если будет время и не переведёт кто-нибудь другой.

Ок спасибо , выкладвыайте когда руки дойдут, а я в первый пост его добавлю..
