dave-uk
I’m looking at upgrading my graphics card, at present I have the NVidia RTX 2070 super. I’m thinking of the RTX 2080ti, but there's more than one version out there, it’s confusing, and the range in price is big too. So what one do you guys recommend for DCS? Looking at my motherboard and all the jargon, I’m hoping it will be supported too. I have an Asus Tuf Z390-plus gaming. Or i could wait for the 3080ti that’s rumoured to be out this year. dburne
I really like my EVGA RTX 2080 Ti FTW3. Might be smart to wait for the 30xx cards, but with everything going on in the world today no telling when they will come. panzerd18
Save some money and buy the cheapest 2080ti you can find thats not a blower style card. I went with the cheaper ASUS Dual fan (non strix version) and its been fine.
Snake122
Here's my question though since I'm building a 9700K system on a Asus Z390-Tuf too, are you really going to see an improvement in DCS going to the 2080Ti? Most general benchmarks show a less than 20% improvement for an over 110% price increase of the 2080Ti compared to the 2070S. To me, that cost to performance gain isn't worth it since I'm assuming that DCS will have even less gains compared to benchmark and FPS programs that are generally used to measure video cards. The only way that makes sense to me is if you are running 4k and need the extra 3GB of VRAM. Otherwise, I'd wait for the 30xx. SVgamer72
I would add that a used 1080ti (which has 11Gb of memory is worth considering if you are crunching the numbers to get the most bang for the buck.

Snake122
That's a great point about the 1080Ti, I doubt DCS will take advantage of the RTX features any time soon like ray tracing. derneuemann
knows a thin comparison benchmarks here. Because I can only find extremely little and that's a shame. 20% for a 2080TI compared to the 2070S is clearly not enough for the price. I’m thinking of the RTX 2080ti, but there's more than one version out there, it’s confusing, and the range in price is big too. What's your display resolution? 1080p, 1440p, 4k, or VR? I went with a 2080ti as I use a 4K 43" computer monitor. I chose the 2080Ti as I was planning ahead for VR. Driving a 32" 1440p display in 2D it's overkill. Is your 9700K air-cooled? Maybe invest in a 360mm AIO (if possible) and push the overclock towards 5GHz? You'll see a noticeable improvement for much less outlay. ;) I really like my EVGA RTX 2080 Ti FTW3. +1 Noticeably quieter/cooler under full load than the Zotac 2080Ti Amp! that it replaced (under warranty). i9-9900K @5GHz, Z390 Aorus Pro, 32GB DDR4-3200MHz, EVGA RTX 2080Ti FTW3 Ultra, Seasonic Focus+ Platinum 850W PSU, TM Warthog HOTAS, CH Pro pedals, 2x MFD's, MT deskmounts, Asus 32" 1440p display, EDTracker Pro Wireless, HP Reverb
Gnadentod
3080 Ti will not come out this year, the Ti version releases always take atleast 6 months and on average 9 months after the non-Ti version of its family comes out, never before. But there will be cards in there which have a performance on the same level what a 2080 Ti can offer now.

WolfcatVader
I am in a similar boat, wanting to upgrade my 1080Ti. At current 2080Ti costs though I can't justify not waiting on a 3080Ti. It may be late this year or early next but from the information we have it should be work the wait. 10th Gen i9 are around the corner too. Might be a good time for a whole new rig... i9-12900K - EVGA 3090 FTW - 64GB DDR5 5600 - HP Reverb G2
